Vegetarianism is the principle or practice of excluding all meat and fish, and sometimes, in the case of vegans, all animal products (such as eggs, cheese, etc) from one's diet (dictionary.com). Albert Einstein said, " I think the changes and purifying effects that a vegetarian diet have on a human being's disposition are quite beneficial to mankind. Therefore, it is both auspicious and peaceful for people to choose vegetarianism." Over the past few years, eating meat has been a majority choice, but people are unaware of how harmful meat actually is to the body. Although this is true, vegetarianism is a better alternative and should become universal for the good of animals, the environment, and also the human well- being. The effects of meat are immense. Cows, pigs,etc. who are raised for meat are slaughtered carelessly with no chance of living. These innocent animals are slaughtered only for one selfish purpose. While many grains are produced throughout the world to feed the cattle, soon to be slaughtered, there are many starving children begging for food. The final reason to become vegetarian is simple. The many health benefits vegetarianism offers is beyond imagination.
"Lean beef is a naturally nutrient- rich source of several essential vitamins and minerals we need to live well and prevent chronic disease ( The National Cattlemen's Beef Association)". Despite this claim, cows are actually pumped with harmful chemicals in order to make them grow faster and "prevent" disease. So in the end, people who are unaware of this, eat it without thinking. Eating meat can actually cause a detrimental effect on your health, even cancer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death. Experiments indicate that the burning and roasting of flesh creates a chemical element (Methylcholanthrene ) which is a powerful carcinogen.
