I couldn't imagine life without sports, let alone high school or college without varsity sports. I don't even enjoy school enough, by itself, to just go and learn. There is a reason I go to school and that's for athletics. That's why I am where I am right now. It's not because I enjoy school and the whole learning process because I don't. It's because I busted my butt everyday after school to become a better volleyball player. Volleyball is the whole reason I'm in college right now; volleyball is paying my way for education.
If it wasn't for varsity sports in my high school, I wouldn't be sitting here right now writing this paper. I'd probably still be saying on a daily basis, "Thank you for choosing Sonic, this is Paige. How may I help you?". I can't picture my high school without varsity sports. That'd be way uncalled-for. There wouldn't be that urge to wake up and sit through an eight hour day of school (well for me anyways). I understand that there are people out there that don't enjoy being involved in sports and love school with a passion but that's just isn't me. The whole reason I go to school and sit through those eight hour days is because I look forward to playing volleyball after.
In a way you could say that volleyball has been a motivation booster for me personally. I would've slacked off so much during school and would've skipped way more days of school being "cough, cough... sick". I probably would've just done the minimum of work to just get by in school, that's how much I really care for it. You can't miss school when you're involved in school sports, unless you are legitimately sick. Because missing school would mean missing practice and missing practice would mean missing out on playing time and/or even full games.
Being involved in varsity sports comes with a whole lot of other responsibilities. You are looked upon differently than just being involved in any other level of a sport, such as the freshmen team or...
