Using Animals for Research
Using Animals for Scientific Research should be banned
Have you ever thought that the pet you loved and you care so much, could have been suffering from pain and massacre in a laboratory for scientific research? sadly that is true and more than 100 million animals including dogs, cats, monkeys, fish, birds, rabbits and hamsters are killed in laboratories for chemical, frog, food and cosmetics testing. Nowadays scientist use animals for scientific research, in my opinion using animals for scientific research should be banned because it is inhumane, they don’t have anything in common with us, and the humans can find other resources to experiment with.
Former UK Home Office minister Joan Ryan. Said: “Animal research and testing has played a part in almost every medical breakthrough of the last century. It has saved hundreds of millions of lives worldwide...” –First of all, using animals for researching is inhumane because the animals are beings living and they have their own feelings. A person for the Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA says “On top of the deprivation, there are the experiments. U.S. law allows animals to be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain-damaged. No experiment, no matter how painful or trivial, is prohibited – and pain-killers are not required. Even when alternatives to the use of animals are available, the law does not require that they be used—and often they aren’t.”.[Animals]. Moreover they experiment pain as us.They are treated cruelly for research. I think that humans as animals are just as important as each other, as a result they don’t deserve death four our fault. Another reason is that they don’t have anything in common whit the humans. The animals are different from humans in many aspects. They don’t have the same diseases, also they are not same biologically, so when the Scientifics work with them and try new methods; for example, in medicine, the reaction that they have is going to be similar but not the same; According whit the FDA U.S Food and Drug Administration saying: “The FDA reported that 92 out of every 100 drugs that successfully pass animals trials and go into human clinical testing fail during the human clinical trial phase.” [Drugs]. Therefore that means, when the medicine is “ready” to sale in the market, the first human who buy and try the medicine is exposed and have the same risk that the animal did.
Finally, through science development, there are other alternatives instead of animal testing. A good medical research may be performed with no use of live animals or cause them unnecessary suffering if it can be avoided. Also replacement could be a perfect option, because that means replacing 'higher' animals with 'lower' animals. Microorganisms, plants, eggs, reptiles, amphibians.
As you cans see they are a lot of reasons to banner this massacre, the animal’s needs to be loved and cared for us, not abused the funny part is that if you ask why scientists experiment with animals, and will answer, “Because they are like us." If you ask them why it is morally right to experiment on animals and reply: "Because the animals are not like us." Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction.

As medical science advances the need for more extensive testing of new medicines and pharmaceuticals. These drugs need to go through years of testing to see for possible long term affects. Instead of treatment on humans, scientists use a wide variety of animals to simulate the effects. These animals physiological similarities to humans would be their ultimate downfall. Yearly thousands of animals wake up each day, robbed of the liberties and freedom every organism has a right to. Although animals lack the self awareness of humans, putting them through such preventable suffering through inhumane experimentation is unjust and should be stopped.…

Every year millions of animals are subjected to horrible unethical experimentations in order to advance medical science. Dogs, cats, monkeys, mice, and other animals are kept in dark rooms in cages while being exposed to various toxic and poisonous substances daily in order to test how the substance may react in humans. These poor creatures suffer from inhuman treatments and are denied any form of happiness, and these experiments should cease to and alternatives should be used instead.…

Animals do not have a say once they are taken away from their current living space, and then killed or have to suffer through what the researchers put them through. These innocents now are being punished, abused, and now have more risks and a shortened life span. Realistically, in my opinion, in order to experiment on animals you really don’t have a heart. People who love animals, could never and would never experiment on them because the things that people do to them we really don’t deserve the satisfaction of animals. “Animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and "killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means." This piece of textual evidence is explaining how animals are not treated properly while being used in experimentation. Animals are forced to do things unwanted to, and also are deprived of certain things. Consider the people who have to do this for a living- they are finding cures for us humans, and also testing products such as cosmetics and shampoos and making sure that we can use them. You may think that animal testing is beneficial, but it's not, it's putting animals life in danger. Rabbits are used to test cosmetics and shampoos, during this process rabbits are powerless and have their eyelids opened by clips this can occur for days. Moving forward, as you can see many animals are harmed during the process and it is very heartbreaking to hear about the many animals that are hurt or killed to find cures for us. If you anyone who loves animals, if animal experimentation is okay, they would say it was abusive, because you taking the life of an innocent animal and putting it in…

Several animal rights organizations, including the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), have questioned the legitimacy of this practice wherein animals are subjected to torture in the name of 'scientific research'. Animal rights activists, along with animal lovers from across the world, are trying their best to get this inhumane practice outlawed. These people stress on the fact that there is no dearth of arguments against the practice - both on ethical and scientific…

In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use is up. Some are injured and will still live the remainder of their life in captivity. The doctors will not do anything to help the animals that are in pain that happen to be the reason because of them. It is the aspect of animals testing that many view as a major negative against the practice, as it seems that the animal died in vain because no direct benefit to humans occurred. Even though animals and humans have many things in common like how we both have the same organ system, there are also many things that are different between animals and humans. Many animals cannot handle or take the same medication as humans, most the surgeries that are operated on animals are just too strong for an animal to take so they end up dying or sick for the rest of their lives. (Animal Testing…

Last year, over 167 million animals died due to animal research. At this rate, the number of animals that will die this year will be well over 200 million. Animals used in these testing facilities are treated in inhumane and disgusting ways. Dogs are forced to eat pesticides, monkeys have their skulls cracked, mice grow tumors larger than their own bodies, bunnies are blinded, the list of cruelties goes on and on. After having these excruciating and terrifying experiments performed on them, they are usually dumped back into a cramped…

Every day, animals such as rabbits, chimpanzees, and mice take part of medical experimentation. “Chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans, and mice are 98% genetically similar to humans. The United States and Gabon are the only two countries that allow experimentation on chimpanzees.” (The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada). What people don’t understand is that these animals contribute to medical discoveries regarding human health. Animals should be used for medical experimentation because they contribute to many life-saving cures and treatments, they are similar to human beings in many ways, animals are the only organisms other than humans who we can experiment on, and the animals themselves benefit…

Every year, there is over two hundred million innocent animals are injured or killed in scientific experiments across the world. Out of these animals, between seventeen and twenty million are used in the United States alone. It’s been known that an animal dies in a laboratory every three seconds. Those in favor of animal experimentation say they’re taking animals’ lives to save humans. But is it really necessary to subject animals to torturous conditions or painful experiments in the name of science? Is it right to destroy and take an animals’ life just by testing shampoos and makeup? Animal experimentation, like many of the issues we face today, is difficult to argue against, and just as hard to support.…

    Animal Testing Unethical

When treating the animals with an experiment or even the living conditions that these animals are put into, experimenters aren’t taking into consideration how much pain or turmoil that the animals are experiencing. In an article written by ProCon, the author states “According to Humane Society International, animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation.” (ProCon, 2016). Experimenters are more focused on the results and the reactions from the testing products rather than the well-being of these animals. Ethics and morality take a huge role in animal testing and research. Many moralists wants to give several reasons on why animal testing is wrong, but they all share one common piece of information. This type of experimentation is immoral. One of the most outstanding parts of this research is the lack of laws that protect animals from experiencing cruelty during experimentation. In an article by the Atlantic, it is stated “scientific men to animals should be under any laws or restrictions save those general ones which regulate the behavior of all men so as to protect animals from cruelty.”. (Dewey, 1926). Experimenters are allowed to conduct experiments with as much pain infliction as desired, under one condition. Pain is allowed to be inflicted on the test subject if it meant not inflicting pain on human beings. Again,…

According to a natural organic food store, “Animals endure chemicals being dripped into their eyes, injected into their bodies, forced up their nostrils or forced down their throats. They are addicted to drugs, forced to inhale/ingest toxic substances, subjected to maternal deprivation, deafened, blinded, burned, stapled, and infected with disease viruses”. An animal research lab in the UK argues though exclaiming that, “Animal research has played a vital part in nearly every medical breakthrough over the last decade”. It all comes down to whether a human life is more valuable than an…

The practice of animal experimentation has increased tremendously over the globe. Animal research is immoral because animals are being subjected to not being properly advocated for, are experiencing detrimental testing and there are alternative methods other than crucial animal experiments. Animal testing is defined as a scientific experiment to where a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them “fear, discomfort, pain or distress” (Fisher). Animal experiments include injecting them with harmful substances, exposing animals to radiation, removing organs, forcing them to inhale toxic gases, and other horrifying procedures. Although through animal testing some diseases have been cured, there…

Animal’s rights are violated when they are used in research. Millions of animals had to suffer and die in order to bring those medical advances to a reality. “Animals have a basics moral right to respectful treatment. Both animals and humans are alike in many ways that we both fell, think, behave and experience pain. Animals have never been treated with the same respect like humans they don’t have a choice when we they are tested on. These test subject these animals to tremendous pain and suffering and the end results usually ends up in permanent damage to them or their deaths. Millions of these animals die because animal testing is very cruel and ineffective. In these test animals are injected with diseases they wouldn’t normally contract such as major heart diseases, cancers, HIV, Parkinson’s disease or schizophrenia. In fact, 92% of test that pass animal testing fail in human trials. There is so much time, money and the lives of animals being wasted in these test. The Cruelty Free International states that out of 93 dangerous drug side effects, only 19% could have been predicted by animal test. “Despite many decades of studying conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, stroke and AIDS in animals, we do not yet a reliable and fully effective cures”…

When considering the pain some animals are put through in order to test certain medical techniques, we mustn't forget that if it were not animals going through the pain, it would be humans. Also, the amount of successful outcomes of medical testing far outweighs the failures. The California Research Association states that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals. Experiments in which dogs had their pancreases removed led directly to the discovery of insulin, critical to saving the lives of diabetics. Also, the polio vaccine, tested on animals, reduced the global occurrence of the disease from 350,000 cases in 1988 to 223 cases in 2012. Lastly, animals covered under the “Animal Welfare Act include any live or dead cat, dog, hamster, rabbit, nonhuman primate, guinea pig, and any other warm-blooded animal determined by the Secretary of Agriculture for research, pet use or exhibition”(Animal Welfare Act of 1966). Animal research is highly regulated, with laws in place to protect animals from mistreatment. As well as stipulating minimum housing standards for research animals, the AWA also requires regular inspection by veterinarians. This nearly guarantees the safety of Animal Research labs and makes sure that they treat their animals with the utmost…
