User Manual Critique: Pyle Pro
User Manual Critique
ENG/221 Technical Writing Fundamental
July 30, 2012

When evaluating the chosen manual several criteria were utilized which I believe are important elements in order for it to be effective see below. * Must be legible and easy to navigate through * The audience must be taken in consideration which means that it has to address all the needs of the audience * The instructions need to be easy to follow and have clarity to the intended audience. * It also must include background that the users can easily understand. * Correctness of the manual, punctuation, grammar.

When accessing the manual for Pyle Pro (PWMA-230) operating instruction the first thing that sticks out in my observation is how readable the manual presents itself in a legible form that the reader can understand. The font’s size and style are appropriate for the manual this allows the reader little effort when viewing it which gives a better comprehension that makes it easily understood of the set of instructions. As it pertains to navigation of the manual there isn’t anything that is special or unique from many other manuals that you would see, just a matter of flipping the pages and following the explanation of what the equipment Intel’s.
The manual I believe appears to address the intended audience needs appropriately. I take from the manual that the instructions are intended for average users of the amplifier who only want practical knowledge of how to operate the product. This manual describes the proper was of operating the amplifier without going into great detail and not allowing itself to have to get into a technical discussion that the user does not really care about anyway.
As I read the manual one thing that really stuck out to me was the correctness of the manual there was the misspelled word “don’t”, throughout the “Remarks” section. Since this is an official document for the company its shows unprofessionalism by the preparer when they didn’t proofread to ensure that the correct grammar and punctuation was not utilized. The writer should know the correct rules or exactly what grammatical terms are expected to be used at all times.
The background information about the product has many “don’t” that pertain to the products is very disappointing because of the misspelled word “don’t” which makes it a little harder to concentrate on what it is trying to convey to the reader. The warning to me are a little exhaustive with the exception of the dangers of opening the chassis or putting ones hand inside the chassis can be dangerous, the others are pretty much self- explanatory in my opinion. Throughout the manual it does include descriptions of the various amplifier components and diagrams of the product.

The handbook is filled with a lot of useful information; however it lacks a lot of information specifically for paraprofessionals. I feel a section should be added that specifically address the paraprofessionals because just like the teacher they have a big role in the classroom. Overall the handbook was very useful and important, the handbook laid out the guidelines, rules and regulations for faculty and staff, and by having these handbooks it helps the teachers make the school year run smoothly and…

Being in the United States Army, we have many technical documents in which we use on a daily basis. In the field of Electronics Technician we refer to publications called technical manuals. There is a class on how to read these technical manuals and how to navigate through them in order to find the information needed. However, it is not a requirement to take the class in order to read and understand these manuals. Through certain vocabulary, sentence structures and sentence lengths we can make these manuals easier to read and understand.…

A manual is a document necessary to complete a task or to learn a new skill. We also use a manual to operate machinery or service and to maintain a piece of equipment. The usefulness of a manual depends on the audience. The audience can range from beginner to expert levels. The criteria’s include the following audience recognition, to make sure and verify that the document uses correct tone language or terminology that mainly focuses on a word choice and other important criteria a manual must meet. This is to ensure that all levels of audience can understand what is being displayed and explained at the same time. Design and structure are also very important key elements in the criteria of a user manual. Cover pages, headers and footers are included in the structure. This critique will determine if the user manual has good and understandable writing techniques to make the instructions readable to all users.…

    A Quick Rundown of Python

I got bored and decided to write an attempt at a bare-minimum Python tutorial for this class. I'm subscribed by email and pretty free today, so I'll check back if anyone has any questions. I'm no pro, but I've been coding in Python recreationally for a couple years now (and I actually try to keep up with what actual pros are saying) so I have some idea what I'm doing. I did this assignment in a few hours, including at least 45 minutes of which was kludging my way around Unicode problems that I'm not used to dealing with because Python 3 wouldn't have had them.…

The book is certainly concise and organized. The first chapter defines automated library functions and previews the rest of the book. The next ten chapters cover, respectively, the automation integration project, organizational and management structure, tasks and procedures, job design and staffing, space planning and design, workstations, documentation, database conversion, computer operations, and, finally, automated function activation and evaluation. Each chapter begins with a summary of points to be covered, and each brief chapter is broken into many small topics. Each chapter includes a bibliography, and the book ends with an apparently thorough index. There are no footnotes nor a glossary.…

Clarity can be thought of as many things, but for the sake of this critique, it will be addressing the setup of the manual. This manual does contain a table of contents which does make the manual accessible to the user. A person is able to look up the particular issue they are trying to address. It addresses issues that are common to the everyday use of the computer. The manual begins with the setup of the computer, which is what a novice will look at to begin with. A novice can be considered as a complete beginner, who has never bought a computer before. These are the people that should be taken into consideration when writing a manual. If a person is not a novice, they are much less likely to…
