Usain Bolt Speech
Introduction

If you’ve watched the previous two Olympics you’ve been fortunate enough to have seen the fastest man on the planet run the 100m and 200m. Today I want to inform you about how Usain Bolt revolutionized sprinting by being the 1st of his sport to truly be a genetic freak of nature. You have to be gifted to be an Olympic sprinter, but today I’m going to explain how his height and stride, how he gets out of the box, and how his closing speed makes him the fastest man on the planet.

Body

Transition: Now that you can see how his genetic make up sets him apart from the rest of his competitors I will show you the technical side of running that makes him faster than anybody else.

II. Getting out of the box (Acceleration) can make or break the race
A. Getting a good jump of the gun
B. Not straightening up too quickly

Transition: You can’t win the race in the first half of the race, but you sure can lose it. This is why it getting out of the box is so important. Now lets look at the second half of the race. Closing speed.

III. Closing speed closes the deal
A. Maintaining a good stride
B. Running through the line

Conclusion

Today we have looked at how Usain gets out of the box and how his closing speed makes him the fastest man on the planet, but it is undeniable how his genetic make up takes him to another level of speed. Like all things you have to adapt to survive and in the sport of sprinting I believe you will gradually see taller sprinters in the Olympics. For now Usain Bolt is the fastest man on the planet, holding the record for the 100m dash, running it in 9.58 seconds and the 200m dash in 19.19s. With the last name of bolt why shouldn’t he be the fastest man on the planet?

Suitable – The multistage fitness test is a suitable test. Reasons being it tests how far you can run for, and these tests how fit you are. I would say it’s suitable for sports teams and school groups (students), but not for populations in which a maximal exercise test would be contraindicated. The test is simple to set up, and you won’t need to spend fortunes on equipment; all you need is a 20m running space (a non-slip surface), a CD player, a recording sheet (to record the results), cones that are 20m apart, and the bleep test CD. People may think it’s not suitable because there may be people who have asthma, and this will not be a fair way to test their fitness. Or someone can be injured and that can affect their running.…

Whether you prefer "the Blade Runner", "the Man Without Legs", "the Fastest Man on No Legs" or Oscar Pistorius, this young man 's story will serve as a case study of mainstreaming in 'disability sports ', specifically in the film Murderball. Pistorius is a 21-year-old South African below the knee amputee who won gold in the 100, 200 and 400 meter events at the 2006 Paralympic Athletics World Championships. Pistorius was regarded as being fast enough to earn a spot for the 200- and 400-meter sprints on South Africa’s Olympic team. Pistorius asked to be allowed to run in the Olympics if he would qualify for his country 's Olympic team. The world governing body for track and field (IAAF) ruled on 14 January 2008 – invoking its rule 144.2 which deals with technical aids – “that double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius is ineligible to compete in the Beijing Olympics because his prosthetic racing legs give him a clear competitive advantage” (IAAF, 2008). The story of Pistorius well serve as the example of attempted mainstreaming of disability in sports, on the elite international front.…

(McArdle, Katch and Katch, 2004). Speed is essential for a 100m sprinter as the faster you are the more likely you are to win the race. Since 1986, when the people of Kenya began to take the world championship of running seriously, their men have won every team race from the eight hundred meter to the three thousand meter steeple chase. Five of the top ten spots on Runner’s World’s annual road race ranking for 2001 were held by Kenyan men (Hirschoff). Statistics show that compared to their Western counterparts, Kenyans are better long distance runners. With their almost perfect environment providing them with a natural, beneficial diet, Kenyan runners are born and raised to run fast.…

Speed is obviously a huge part in a race. But most people don’t know reaction time is also extremely important as well as movement time. This is “the time taken in the action of moving the limbs.” (Payne 94) Basically this means how fast you can get your foot back on the ground after you have lifted it in between strides. This can be improved by a weight training program and by speed interval exercises. This leads to the next thing that is needed in training to run a race well, strength. Athletes’ level of strength affects so many other factors of their performance. Speed and endurance can be increased by strength. For a runner to increase their strength, they must work on the three main types of muscle: “the smooth voluntary muscles forming the walls of vessels, the cardiac muscles of the heart, and the striated skeletal muscles that are under voluntary control.” (Payne 98) Flexibility will also help with speed during a race. An athlete must establish…
