This paper is geared towards urinary production, which defines the urinary system and some common diseases associated with the production of urinary or lack of urinary production. The urinary system includes the kidneys, bladder and tubes. These organs control the amount of water and salts that are absorbed back into the blood and what is taken out as waste. This system also acts as a filtering mechanism for the blood. Diabetes is one of the serious diseases involving many hardships when it comes to the urinary system.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce enough insulin, a hormone needed to convert the sugars and starches that we eat into energy needed for daily life. The cause of the disease is a mystery, but genetics and environment seem to play major roles. There are two kinds of Diabetes, Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Insipidus,
A rare disease caused by a deficiency of vasopressin, a hormone of the posterior pituitary gland that controls the amount of urine secreted by the kidneys.
As a health care worker I have experienced and seen that the loss of bladder control is more common in people age 65 and older and affects women more often than men. While drugs and procedure such as Foley bags insertion can help treat the condition, people with urinary incontinence have a hard time regaining bladder control. Caffeine is know to irritate and stimulate the bladder and cause urgent, frequent urination and increased urine production. Drinking too much alcohol and eating too much spicy food can also aggravate incontinence. Urinary incontinence is often linked to a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. An individual can learn to improve both the strength and endurance of this special muscle group through regular exercise.
