Chapter 1
RESEARCH PROBLEM
This chapter discusses the research problem at hand through introduction, historical and contextual background, statement of the problem, significance of the study and the scope and limitations of this study.

Introduction
School facilities are very helpful for these days’ changing programs of delivering education to the students. It provides an environment that is adequate, secured, and satisfying. These facilities also help the students in making school works easier, making information more accessible and more resources attainable, a perfect example for this is the school library. The purpose of a school library, according to Morris (2004) is “to provide a range of learning opportunities for both large and small groups as well as individuals with a focus on intellectual content, information literacy, and the learner.” As such, it is expected that a library will be a good resource of information for the students to help them with their studies.
As a university awarded as an “Outstanding Academic and Research Library”, it is important to know how well it serves the students who use this facility. This study is being conducted to analyze the effect of University of the East’s library on students’ level of satisfaction by measuring its service quality base on different aspects.

Historical and Contextual Backgrounds of the Problem
The UE Library was first established in April 1947 at Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration Building. The initial books were accounting, business and economics which were acquired from American bookstores. The library was moved many times until the mail library finally relocated at Library-Engineering Building. In 1986, Audiovisual Departments became accessible under the direction of the Department of Libraries. During 1994, the university archives was established, after two years, the main library was revised into modern and first class facility. In 2003, the main library of
