What are methods of inquiry and how are they used in criminal investigation? The principal of methods on inquiry is in two groups: the ones that are discovering or created new information and the ones that reconstruct the past. One of the first methods is the historian, archeologist, epidemiologist, journalist, and criminal Investigator. The second is the scientist in general. Even though; it is useful that state of dichotomy for sake the conceptual distinction, these methods are finally fused in the mind of better thinkers and practitioners, reconstruction of the past, can make use for the scientific method, with art and science to build on and digress from the past. Some might suggest that the inquiry employs the techniques to be in common. (Osterburg& Ward, 2010) Some of the basic are interview and interrogation, and crime scene level also can include canvasing. This is often door to door to find witnesses who have hopeful give the investigator information on what they have seen or heard. Interviews are noncustodial, are the most typical way on gather information about the crime from victims or witness, or even informant to help further illuminate on the facts. Interrogation is also custodial. This means that they are being conducted on persons who is being arrested as the suspected who might have participated in the crime. This is where the investigator looks for an admission of guilt or a statement of innocence the interview or interrogation, are two different methods of retrieving information.
