Unit 1 Assignment 1
It Takes Courage
Why does it take courage to possess and display qualities of persistence and enthusiasm? There are a few different factors that play into courage when it comes to persistence and enthusiasm. Character strengths or the big picture is just one of many. Character strengths are defined as virtues, for example, the virtue of wisdom which can be achieved through strengths such as creativity, curiosity, love of learning, open mindedness, and perspective (Peterson and Seligman, 2004). Most virtues are the core characteristics that are valued by thinkers and philosophers. Wisdom, courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence are just to name a few of the characteristics. Without courage most people would not have the persistence or enthusiasm to complete anything in life. Courage would almost be considered a guideline to have the want to get anything done. Courage gives people the push when things go wrong. To sum up courage when it comes to persistence and enthusiasm, courage give people the push they need to get things done, to strive not only for excellence, but to become number one. The video I decided to watch was about Joe overcoming his stage fright and what he did to be able to move on from the fear. Joe was a song writer that had so many songs written he just always had a fear of singing them, he would even be paranoid of his roommates hearing him. Finally he decided to try to overcome this and decided to go to a local open mic and sing. On his first try he showed up and saw that there was a lot of people there, at least in his opinion the roughly 20 people was a lot. It got to the point that he was about to perform the fear kicked in but it also made his adrenaline kick in, he could feel his heart rate increasing and his breathing got faster. He got himself on stage and started to sing and it was horrible and uncomfortable. He could feel the audience was

What type of install is the cable going into? Is everything in a fixed position? If you have an install where items are moved around without being disconnected, using highly flexible cable is necessary. Cables in these scenarios need to be flexible to meet those demands of mobility, and also for the life of the wire so that it does not crack, break, fray or short. We had a job at a university where we moved flat panels on a track system to create different screen sizes, and for that we had to make sure the cable would meet the demand.…

The evolution of the Ethernet standards will have a large effect on data storage requirements. As the speeds of these connections continue to increase, users and businesses will be able to transfer larger files faster and will required larger data storage to accommodate the increased demand of resources. Thirty years ago, when the standard was only 10MB, there was nowhere near the need for the data storage capacity as there is today, with the current standard being 100 Gbit, with 1 Tbit on the way. Data storage wasn’t as high in demand before because it would take an extremely long amount of time to transfer large files, but as the speed increases, so will the demand.…

The Johnson Company can do several things to reach out to new customers. Even though many companies still use them, the yellow pages are all but obsolete and viewed by a low number of people. Most companies utilize websites and social media to attract customers. The Johnson Company can create these to get their name out on the internet. In conjunction with these websites, they could utilize web advertising services such as Google advertisements or banner ads. Additionally, they could contact their local cable providers to film commercials to air on television.…

There are many avenues that the fire service can utilize to reduce the injuries, deaths, cost and risks that fire poses to firefighters and those in the community. Among these numerous avenues that are at the fire service’s disposal, in my opinion, the most effective is the presence of fire suppression systems in homes. With that being said, I’m in support of requiring the installation of fire sprinklers in homes, for while there may be an initial financial hit, there are far more pros than cons; such as reducing injury, death and cost of fires.…

I tend to use a variety of different teaching strategies. Reece and Walker (2006:101) state that “the choice of teaching strategy is often related to your own individual style and what makes you feel most comfortable in doing. However, there are some overall rules that you may like to consider. The first is the type of objective that you want your students to achieve. The second is the number of students you have to teach”.…

Public speaking phobia is an intense and irrational fear of experiencing judgment by others when speaking in front of public or being embarrassed or humiliated in such situations causing dread, panic, and avoidance (Teachman, 2010). More accurately, it is not the scrutiny and negative judgments themselves but the speaker’s own emotional response to them; the feeling of shame, rejection or humiliation that causes intense fear in the speaker. Sufferers recognize that their fear is excessive or unreasonable but they feel powerless to do anything to change their responses (Teachman, 2010). Therefore, the feared situation – such as presentations, speeches, and meetings are avoided or else endured with intense anxiety or distress. In Bill’s situation, he suffers from intense fear of intense fear of public speaking and finds new ways of avoiding situations that involve speaking in front of audience, until his recent promotion at work.…

Courage is a standout amongst the most imperative qualities in a soldier on the grounds that without it he/she won't have the capacity to demonstrate his different excellencies. He/she would fear being judged. You can't purchase courage or get it from somebody. You must be roused by the cases of other individuals encompassing you. It is not only a picked up perspective, as an aftereffect of an exemplary instruction. It is a calling of a spirit. An indispensable piece of a one's identity. It is an activity when one experiences challenges or endures against the malice to benefit something (or to enhance something) and does not hope to pick up anything from it. "Fearlessness " is a condition of heart, when respect is the decision…

In the first three chapters of Michael Motley’s book Overcoming Your Fear of Public Speaking: A Proven Method, Motley goes over other people’s methods compared to his own, physical reactions spurred on by the anxiety, and also how to change ones style of speaking from “performance orientation” to “communication orientation” (Motley, 1997, p. 41) These three chapters hold several very strong points of interest for someone with any kind of anxiety about public speaking, which would be everyone, that could help him or her manage the symptoms of anxiety. In chapter one Motley starts out with giving the audience different scenarios that helps form a connection between him and the readers, by doing this Motley is able to create credibility with the readers. Credibility is important in any field, literature and public speaking in particular, because if the author/speaker doesn’t form this connection then he is just some random Joe off the street.…

While some of us feel stronger symptoms than others, it still happens to almost all of us. You practiced your speech to yourself without any issue over the past few days and your time comes to finally get up in front of that special group of people. All of a sudden your hands start to sweat and tremble, your throat dries up and your heart begins to feel like it is going to convulse out of your chest. Next thing you know you are stumbling over your own words and your speech is not going nearly as smoothly as it was the night before. I know what you are thinking; clearly he is talking about glossophobia. I know you are also thinking at least it is better than having porphyrophobia or arachibutyrophobia. For the few of you who are lost, the last two phobias that I had to twist my tongue for are a fear of the colour purple and a fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth. Glossophobia is a fear of public speaking. I do not mean to say that all of us who have somewhat unrestrainable nerves when doing a speech need to get psychological help because we have a phobia. The anxiety we feel when we are in front of a group of people is known as stage fright and is really only a mild case or a subset of glossophobia. People with full blown glossophobia, that require psychological help, experience intense anxiety just at the thought of speaking in public. It often interferes with their work and social life and makes the individual unable to perform basic tasks, such as introducing him or herself to new people. Today I would like to inform you about the psychology of stage fright and what is going on biologically in your body when you experience it. I will also share some tips that I have researched to help control stage fright.…
