Uninteruptible Power Supply System
PROJECT TITLE

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

OF

UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER

SUPPLY SYSTEM

(UPS)

i

ABSTRACT

This project, the design and construction of Uninterruptible Power Supply System

(UPS) illustrates the design analysis with respect to the actual practical work involved in the

project.

The system is designed in such a way that it utilizes a 24V accumulator to power an

inverter circuit whose frequency is set at 50Hz to produce alternating current.

The square wave current from the inverter is strengthened (Amplified) and fed into

a 24/240V transformer, which steps-up the voltage to the desired level.

A control circuit is incorporated to ensure the automation in changing from the

public supply to that produced by the inversion of d.c to a.c and vise versa.

The change overtime is in split seconds thus making it unnoticeable to the eyes and

therefore ensuring continuity.
