Unemployment rates are dropping
In Franklin County oh, unemployment rates are dropping. I believe the rates are dropping because of the massive response by local businesses holding job fairs and there are more ads to show businesses are hiring. There are lots of jobs out there that are hiring, the problem is just looking for the ones that are. If the community and local businesses help to advertise and spread the word that they are hiring, then more people can get off unemployment.
“[The unemployment rate in Franklin County Oh in the month of June was 9.2 % the rate in July went down two percent (9.0%).]” (The Columbus Dispatch, 2010) According to Carousel Expo (2010), “[In July there was one big job fair on July 21, 2010 sponsored by the news stations ABC 6 and Fox 28]” This news channel had much success with the job boot camp in the month of May that they have decided to continue this job fair and make another one for the month of July. “[The unemployment rates also went down in May from the previous month.]” (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.) (2010) May was when this job fair was held. According to the Columbus Dispatch 2010 “[In June the rate went up by five percent, from 8.7 percent to 9.2 percent.]”
With all this information compiled it shows that each time that a job fair was held the rates for that month came down. When you have a job fair most of the time you have employers on site that conduct interviews and hire on site. Therefore, more of the unemployed are being hired at the job fairs. These News channels, Community sources, and papers can play a big part in advertising and working together to help Franklin County to lower their unemployment rate.
The more sources that the unemployed have to help them get a job, the better there job hunt will be. But, there are some people who will not even try to get a job. They want to get as much out... [continues]
