Understanding why effective communication is important in the work setting.
When you work in a care setting you will need to have good communication with the parents, staff and children. To promote good relationships and offer support to the parents and in my nursery we have parents evenings every term so we can tell the parents how their child is doing. We can maintain relationships by having a key person allocated to the child and we will get to know the parents, the child and the family so we can work together, when we get to know the parents we can exchange information about the child at the beginning of the day or at the end, in the baby room we have me to you books so the parents and write down anything that they are concerned about or didn’t have time to tell you in the morning. In the nursery that I work in we are able to go on course to help us with communication if we would like to. The manager of the nursery will liaise with other professionals to keep up to date on the policies and procedures. The parents, staff and children should feel free to communicate any concerns they have to a member of staff or management. 1.2
In a nursery having effective communication will allow you to have a relationship with the parents and you will be able to support them. If you work with people that you get along with then you will be able to communicate with them if you have a problem and you will be able to support the as well and you will create a positive working environment, we can do this by working together as a team and the parents or cares know that they can trust us and give them information about their child. In my nursery we have phones in every room so we are able to communicate with all the rooms, we can ask questions and get in contact with management if we would like to ask them something if we have a problem.
