Big numbers: BCCI currently has highest income of any national cricket board, with revenue of 868crores.BCCI had registered a profit of 382.36crores for 2011-12’.BCCI keeping its reputation of being India’s richest sporting body intact, BCCI has paid taxes to the tune of 250crore. Costly rights: The global media rights for international cricket to be held in India between March 2010 and March 2014 were awarded to production house Nimbus for US$612 Million. Official kit sponsorship rights for 5 years from 2010 to 2013 inclusive were awarded to Nike for US$43 Million. While Air Sahara became the official Indian cricket team sponsor for a period of four years at a cost of US$70 Million. The media rights for 25 neutral venue one-day matches to be played over the next 5 years were awarded to Zee Telefilms for US$219.15 Million.Business Standard reports that it will get another Rs 2,000 crore ($450 million) from the sale of other rights, including hotel, travel and ground sponsorship.
Frantic Growth: The not-for-profit cricket body has also seen a turnover of Rs 849.44 crore, a 46.13% jump over Rs 581.29 crore it reported in the year 2010-11. Mr Lalit Modi was partly responsible for the transformation of the finances of BCCI when he took over as the Vice President in Dec 2005 under the stewardship of Mr Sharad Pawar. He is the only person who added the fragrance of making money through corruption which belongs to only Government body.
Pay cheque: It is more than any of the Civil Service people and Scientists. Grade A: Retainership Fees Rs 1 crore per annum (which was 60 Lakhs per annum earlier)
Grade C: Retainership Fees Rs 25 Lakh per annum (no change)
Grade B: Retainership Fees Rs 50 Lakh per annum (which was 40 Lakhs per annum earlier
