Speech 1 will be a Speech of Introduction. The purpose of this speech is to get students familiar with organizing ideas and narratives thematically. In this speech you will be introducing yourself. Avoid giving me biographical data. Instead tell a story of an important event in your life and then give the three ways in which that event has affected your life. (Your audience for this speech (for the purposes of audience analysis) will be a college level class. Your actual audience will consist of at least 6 people (of your choosing).) You must scan them with your camera before beginning your speech. No external citations or visual aids are required that may complicate this first speech.
This speech must be between 3-5 minutes in length. (This speech will be worth 100 points).
*You must mail the following documentation with your introduction speech: • Handwritten Introduction Speech outline using the form in Chapter 6 in the workbook. • Typed final draft of speech outline
• 1 page self-analysis of your speech consisting of 5 positive and 5 negative characteristics of your speech • Blank evaluation form C from workbook
*Written work turned in for a grade in this course must observe the following format requirements.
• Word-processed in a clean, readable typeface no larger than 12-point • Double-spaced to provide room for me to make comments • Title page containing the assignment title, your name, the course number, the date, and the instructors name • Each of the following pages should contain your name and the page number • All work should be proofread for errors in grammar and spelling • All sources should be included in a bibliography
