TV Violence… Right or Wrong?
Introduction
Four hours a day. Twenty eight hours a week. One hundred and twelve hours a month. Approximately thirteen hundred hours of TV a year, this is almost equivalent to 56 days a year of TV watched by the average teenager. These days wasted watching TV could be spent doing useful things for family, friends, or the community, but instead they are wasted away viewing provocative material on almost every channel. TV is known to be one of the biggest impacts in a child’s life, and can easily create harmful or aggressive behaviors growing up; therefore regulation on what material is allowed on TV needs to be improved and concerns should be risen on the fact of how ethical or unethical TV violence is. Without improvements now, years to come kids will only be seeing more violence which will only lead to more problems. On an ethical standpoint, material being viewed today is much more offensive, so why are kids able to view such provoking material at their own ease? Not only are TV shows ruining upcoming generations, but music videos, movies, and cartoons shown on daytime television have offensive matter that put thoughts into children’s minds which shouldn’t be presented to them in years from now.
