Trends and Countertrends of Jewelry

As a current sales associate within the fashion jewelry industry and a jewelry designer as well, I know that selling jewelry designs can be a great challenge with trends in fashion. With jewelry constantly changing, it can be extremely hard to keep up with customer demand. Most jewelry designers make an effort to keep up-to-date with fashion and jewelry trends and may alter their jewelry designs to meet the demands of the latest trends. It is important to keep track of trends and styles in the world of fashion, but it doesn't mean jumping on board every trend and fad that comes along is always necessary. Some fashion jewelry designers are successful in different ways, whether it is to follow current trends or choose to go with countertrends.

Some of the recent popular fashion jewelry trends have been the use of colors, darker shades, rocker modern designs, bracelets made with string or jewels, statement pieces (necklaces, earrings, rings, and bangles), and stacking with bracelets and bangles. Recently, some of the countertrends have been coming into play within fashion jewelry as well. Some of these countertrends include very delicate, simple, and small pieces instead of the bulky, bold, and big statement pieces. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to jewelry, particularly jewelry that is worn within the daytime. However, the bigger and bolder pieces are as trendy to wear during the night time. These trends usually go hand in hand as they can also be worn mixed together.
