If I set aside the meaning of Thanksgiving, forgot about all of my relatives, and got down to the bare grit of it, I would have a lot of food. That basically is the one reason why I see so many of my relatives at Thanksgiving. The food is great, some food isn't, but we eat it anyways. My favorite food is the deviled eggs. My auntie makes them almost every year. When she doesn't make them I'm sad. My dad always cooks the turkey. It's always moist and full of shhhctuffing.
The Thanksgiving environment is wonderful. I get to see all of my relatives. This Thanksgiving was great because I got to hang out with my brothers. Since I've been in college I haven't had much time to hang out with them. My relatives are happier during the holidays. Maybe Thanksgiving is a great time to forget all your troubles and eat. Maybe the joy is based on the fact that an eight pound turkey is sitting in the middle of the table. I get a relaxing feeling sitting at the table with my family, instead of eating a TV dinner in front of the boob tube. After dinner is over we all laugh and converse exactly like last year. Afterwards the turkey sets in and puts everyone to sleep, "damn turks".
That's not what Thanksgiving is really all about. The Thanksgiving tradition was established to honor God and thank Him for His blessings and His grace. This is why the holiday was even created. I look forward to... [continues]
