1. Randolph Duke believes that he can turn a street bum into a decent, reliable person to run their company. He believes that, by changing the circumstances between Billy Ray and Louis, their lives could be completely different. The role of nurture states that behaviors are learned and are not instinctive. Nature is something that you are born with. So, his thoughts are valid with the nurture role, however, they seem to bite them on the backside at the end of the film.

2. I think that Americans put less emphasis on the importance of nature. Today, it is more of where and how you live, that determines your behavior. That is why parents want their children to have a good education in order to have a respectable career when they are older.

3. I’m not certain on how to answer this question. I believe that in order to reduce crime, poverty, and violence, children need to be taught how to behave as at a young age. I think that if children grew up with more job opportunities available and how to be respectful, there would be a lot less crime and violence. Poverty would be lower as well if there were more jobs available.

4. I believe that we learn our behaviors from our surroundings. When I was a child, I was taught not to hang around with anyone of a different race, because they were trouble. I was scared to be around anyone of a different race. When I started school and was around the other races, at first I was scared, and then I became friends with everyone. I know now that my behavior was learned, and that it is changeable. I have a different viewpoint than my family. I have actually changed my mother’s beliefs as well. I do think that some things are hereditary and are from nature.

5. I think that the family has the biggest impact on your behavior. From the moment we are born, we are looking up to our family for the love and care we need. We learn that if we cry, they will feed us. When the time comes for you to be a...
