Research of Travelling Habits of Singaporean

  Introduction

As the economy of Singapore climbs up-hill everyday, tourism industry is experiencing a bloom period. Singaporean is constantly looking for new destination to visit. As a travel agency, we are always coming up with new tour packages for our potential clients. Due to the increase in demand for travelling, we decided to carry out a survey to investigate the travelling preferences of Singaporean. This information can help us understand our clients more to create better and more suitable tour packages for them.

  Methodology

We created a questionnaire of 15 questions and structured them very carefully to make interviewees comfortable with doing our surveys. Sensitive questions are mostly avoided or placed at the end of the surveys to prevent awkwardness.
A mixture of methods was used for the survey. We sent out 80 survey forms by emails, 80 face-to-face interviews by waiting for them as they fill in the forms and 10 telephone interviews. The reason why we use the face-to-face method is because of the high response rate. As for e-mail, it can reach out to more people and is less time-consuming. Telephone interviews are inefficient but we use it mainly for some of the interviewees who have no time to meet up and do not have internet access.

  Analysis of finding

Out of the 80 emails we sent out, only 42 respondents are valid. 70 out of 80 face-to-face interviews are valid and all 10 telephone interviews are valid. In all, we had a total of 122 valid respondents out of the 170 we sent out.
