Basic Forms of Tourism:
* Domestic tourism:

Categories of Tourism:
1. Ethnic- Travelling to observe the cultural expressions and lifestyle of peoples. Typical activity:
* Taking a coastal steamer to the outports of Newfoundland. 2. Cultural- Travelling to experience vanishing lifestyles that like within human memory. Includes cultural ecotourism. Typical activity:

* Lunching in the tavern at the Fortress of Louisbourg. 3. Heritage- Travelling to view places and things from the past, either natural or built by humans. Typical activities:
* Touring cathedrals and monuments or national parks.
4. Environmental- Travelling to natural and environmental attractions to experience people-land relationships. * Includes adventure/outdoor tourism and ecotourism.
Typical activities:
* Hiking in the Rockies, bird watching.
5. Recreational - Travelling to engage in sports and meet social contacts in a relaxed setting. Typical activities:
* Golfing, gaming, attending performances, relaxing with family or friends, watching baseball. 6. Sports - participating in community-based sporting events as spectator, performer, or volunteer. Typical activities:
