Tour Guide: Jeju Island
Jeju where over 5 million people visit every year, is definitely the best tourist city in Korea. Recently, the number of tourists-both domestic tourists and foreigner tourist-is skyrocketing. Jeju has a nickname, "Samdado" which means "Three-many-island". The nickname refers to abundance of rocks, women, and wind. Jeju is very unique place compared to other places in Korea because their dialect is very distinct. Their dialect is so different, thus, Koreans who do not live in Jeju cannot understand what they are saying. This is because Jeju is an island so they have less contact with other places in mainland. Furthermore, Jeju has charming natural scenery that is unusual compared to the mainland of Korea. Jeju is a volcanic island; therefore, Halla Mountain, which is volcanic island is located in the center of the island. Halla Mountain is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO with two other tourist site, Seongsan llchulbong Peak, Geomunoreum Lava Tube System, of Jeju. The volcanic activity generated tremendous amount of basalt. People in Jeju used the basalt to create a symbol of Jeju, Dolhareubang (it means stone statue of old grandfathers). Moreover, Jeju is famous with its beach because of the color of ocean which is similar to the tropical oceans-emerald-like color.

Tourist Spots Jeju is recognized as an unique tourist site because many foreign tourists can experience various style of food, attractions, and unusual environment.

I am greeted into my back yard by the unfortunate screams of ambulances sirens, but I continue to focus on the subject and I slowly begin to notice that the sky is noticeably more vibrant than it had been in my pervious observation. The light from the sun complimented the bright blue sky very extravagantly, causing me to gawk at its beauty for minutes on end. Thankfully the wind is much milder, allowing me to sit down and enjoy myself as I take a long gaze into the distance. To the least of my expectations, it was very quiet in my back yard; no birds, no barking, no children playing, just pure silence. I’m not sure if I like the muteness, but despite the hush, the skyline speaks to me with its spectacular vastness and its magnificent color, breaking the previous silence I found myself trapped in. In conclusion, the colorful sky, the warm rays of sun, and the mild winds provided me an ideal atmosphere to enjoy the view; I am very content with this morning’s…

On this clock, we use the abbreviations a.m. and p.m. to distinguish between "morning" and "afternoon" times. At least, that is how most people think of it. In truth, a.m. means ante meridiem -- before midday -- and p.m. means post meridiem -- after midday. Midday is an old fashioned term for noon. Thus, a.m. times are between midnight and noon, and p.m. times are between noon and…

Through the essay ‘The two faces of tourism', author Jonathan Tourtellot has expressed his deepest concerns about the rapid growth of tourism and the kind of effect this will have upon maintaining the integrity of the tourist spots as unique places in the world. Through out the essay the continuous friction between the modernization of the tourist spot against keeping them "as it is" is very much evident. In this essay, the author has talked about Copper Canyon Country in Mexico and the Tarahumara Indians living in this region.…
