To Have Peace One Must Prepare For War
A great philosopher once said ‘War never helps to end war’ and history is a witness to this. The past 400 years bears ample testimony to the fact that war only leads to destruction and disaster. In order to have peace it does not make sense to prepare for war. It is a contradiction. This great land, the land of Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, has proven to the world that ahimsa or ‘non violence is the sure way to peace. War has never achieved such a victory, for in a war there are no winners. Preparing for war serves no purpose but to incite people against one another. Piling up of armaments and ammunition instills a false sense of security in a country and they gradually lose their sense of tolerance for others. Moreover, in the course of preparing for war ego plays a major role. Every country wants to be one up against the other and piling up of nuclear warfare becomes uncontrolled.
