►PROBLEM STATEMENT
Tata Communications Limited is one of the leading company entrusted with the responsibility of Broadband, Dialup and Wi Fi internet access.It becomes difficult for a company to connect its geographically different sites for which they have to purchase a frame relay circuit or atm circuit.They hold 100,000 routes and more which makes the process very slow.So.we have to make a network between 4 cities – which will make the connectivity faster.

►PROPOSED SOLUTION
We will design a network (VPN) using :
•Multiprotocol layer switching(MPLS) mechanism.MPLS is a new forwarding mechanism in which packets are forwarded based on labels.It is designed to support forwarding of other protocols as well. •Virtual Private Network( VPN) replace dedicated point to point links with emulated point to point links sharing common infrastructure.It reduce the operationl costs. The goal of a VPN is to provide the organization with the same, secure capabilities, but at a much lower cost.

This will be done in layer 3 MPLS VPN.Also also known as L3VPN, combines enhanced BGP signaling, MPLS traffic isolation and router support for VRFs (Virtual Routing/Forwarding) to create an IP based VPN. Compared to other types of VPN such as IPSec VPN or ATM, MPLS L3VPN is more cost efficient and can provide more services to customers. This will help in establishing connections between different geographical areas.

►OBJECTIVES
●To create our own virtual network.
●To offer IP based VPN services.
● To make the service very scalable and flexible to facilitate large-scale deployment. ● Make the service very simple for customers to use even if they lack experience in IP routing. ● Cost reduction.

3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

► MULTIPROTOCOL LABEL SWITCHING (MPLS)

MPLS is a highly scalable, protocol agnostic, data-carrying mechanism. In an MPLS network, data packets are assigned labels. Packet-forwarding decisions are made solely on the contents of this label, without the need to examine the packet itself. Labels may correspond to IP destination networks (equal to traditional IP forwarding).Labels can also correspond to other parameters, such as quality of service (QoS) or source address.This allows one to create end-to-end circuits across any type of transport medium, using any protocol.

■ ARCHITECTURE

MPLS router architecture is divided in 2 major parts ie control plane and data plane. MPLS has two major components: ■ Control plane—exchanges Layer 3 routing information and labels ■ Data plane—forwards packets based on labels
