Timothy Walter Burton uses gothic literature to create a dramatic horror scene, as well as including romance. Gothic literature is a genre that combines elements of both horror and romance. Burton creates characters like Edward Scissorhands and Victor Van Dort to show a dark outlook on love. Burton has his own version of style. Burton creates mood, tone, and imagery by using music, lighting, and sound. Burton’s film style came from his imagination and unconventional childhood.
