Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, born on 13th April, 1743 in Shadwell Virginia, Albemarle County, began his formal education at age nine, studied at William and Mary College and then began to read law. He married Martha Wayles in 1772, and took her to stay in his Mountaintop home, Monticello ( He died on July 4, 1826 in Virginia, Monticello. Jefferson draws my attention in this research due to his powerful advocacy of liberty in the early years of the United States. He effectively held leadership positions and controversies in the government of the United States ( This paper provides a detailed research about Thomas Jefferson. He attained many achievements in his lifetime, in which this research shall present within a historical context. As a fundamental icon, in the United States, Thomas Jefferson is stipulated as one of America’s founding fathers from the many essential tasks he performed, but for most importantly drafting the United States Declaration of Independence. Throughout the American Revolution, Thomas received the governorship position of Virginia and after the battle, he became the France appointed minister. He served as the state’s initial secretary, its 2nd vice president, and its 3rd president. Thomas Jefferson facilitated the founding of the Correspondence Committee of Virginia in 1773. He made the most eloquent opinions against the authority of congress over the colonies. He affirmed that the colonists became only cohesive with England through their charitable allegiance to the sovereign (Ellis 24). Jefferson became a delegate towards the second Continental Congress between 1775 and 1776, when he initiated the Declaration of Independence. He made his words a reality when he notably wrote a bill that ascertained religious freedom, ratified in 1786.
