Think Twice: HIgh School Dropout
Think Twice
You enter high school for the first time of your life thinking it’s going to be like High School Musical or Glee. You thought you would have a lot more freedom than middle school and you were hoping there wasn’t a dress code. Made an educated guess you would be in a non-stressful environment and be drama free. You think that the facility your in is safe and secure with security guards and an officer hanging around campus. Then you think this is going to be an easy four years, less work more fun. Well I’m pretty sure when you got there you were in huge disappointment.
High school is not about fun and games or trying to be the most popular kid in school. In high school you need to put your mind on academic achievement before anything else. If you are focusing more on sports, hanging out with your friends and partying. High school will eat you up alive and can even lead you to terminating your education. That is what happen to many students who think they can just go to school to fool around and not do any work. They have the audacity to think they will end up graduating and getting their high school diploma. Well this is when they come to realize that high school is not the same as high school musical or glee. Dropping out of high school is a process and does not occur over night, slacking and not doing what you supposed to be doing in will lead you into dropping out of. You should also not let peer pressure get to you because of some students calling you a nerd and making fun of you. If you’re engaging into peer pressure that will lead you to places where you do not want to be. Peer pressure can even direct you on to leaving high school. Some students use the excuse of school being too hard as their reasons of dropping out. School is not too hard to the students who are actually interesting on learning. If you had the skills of having inquisitiveness education wouldn’t be an issue.
You may think life will be a lot better without

It 's the rock bottom of a student 's educational career: The day a student drops out of high school. From there, the world may seem to go down in a spiral. Today, 16% of dropouts are unemployed and 32% live below the poverty line. Dropouts with jobs earn an average of only $12.75 per hour (Messacar 55). Students who do graduate from high school have an unemployment rate of only 7.6% (Bureau of Labor Statistics). While the graduation rate may be improving, there are still some out there who find it hard to adjust to the high school atmosphere after leaving their cozy little middle school. Sometimes, middle school poorly prepares their students for life in high school. Some students grow very stressed during their freshman year in high school which leads to a lower GPA. High school, somehow, is an interesting chapter of a person’s life. Automatically, a teenager feels a lot older when entering high school. He or she feels more mature, or at least most teenagers. Since they feel older, they want to start doing things that they would not be allowed to do while being in middle school. They want to start going to more parties; their social lives become an important part of their lives. All they want to do is hang out with their friends, not do homework nor study for tests. They do not want to learn or at least listen to things that “will not benefit them” for whatever career they wish to pursue at that moment. According to them, that knowledge will not be used by them during their whole lives. Sean Covey is the vice president of Innovations and Products at FranklinCovey, which is an organization that devotes to helping individuals and other organizations achieve greatness; he also is a popular speaker to youth and adult groups. He has written some books, including The 6 Most Important Decisions You’ll Ever Make, in which he has a chapter where he writes about the…

Starting high school was a terrifying idea to me. Different teachers, class times, lockers, drama! I remember that I always looked up to my older sister while she was in high school. She had tons of friends, played sports, participated in student government, and went out for the school play. I wanted to be just like her when I started high school. In middle school, I lined myself up for this, I played soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter. I helped out in the school plays, and I joined the student government. I had a group of great friends, and thought nothing bad was going to happen.…

High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…

Many students in middle school think of High School as a place where teachers would not care about them or what they do, party, “freedom” etc. High School “can be that” when a student would make it that, but what really is, it’s a place where teachers prepare students for the big world and College. I didn’t really see that in High School my freshman and sophomore year. I saw it like the rest of the “party animal’’ students did in middle school. Instead of staying home and studying for exams, I would go out to clubs on school days, I would NEVER pay attention in class or Do my homework. I wanted to be like the rest of the “cool” kids. On my Sophomore year I calmed down a bit, I payed attention in school, didn’t really go out and “party” on school nights but I was unorginazed, my notes were awful and some didn’t even make sense! I never really saw my report card last year because my grades where that bad. I ended up going to summer school and making up ALL of my classes.…

High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…
