What is your thesis statement? . For medicinal purposes, a few states have passed the laws allowing the usage of marijuana. Although marijuana is used for medicinal purposes, there are many harmful effects that marijuana have on the body. Marijuana also tend to stay in one’s system for as long as 3 to 90 depending on how much is consumed.

I. Introduction
Marijuana comes from a hemp plant, which is also called cannabis, and has been used for thousands of years around the world. Marijuana has been prohibited in the United States since the early 1900’s, and became popular in the 1960’s. Marinol was approved by the United States Drug and Food Administration. Marinol is used to help people with serious medical problems. For medicinal purposes, a few states have passed the laws allowing the usage of marijuana. Although marijuana is used for medicinal purposes, there are many harmful effects that marijuana have on the body.
