There Are Many Travel Factors That Tourists Take Into Consideration When Choosing A Long Haul Destina
P3 – In this task I’m going to explain how factors affect travel to long-haul destination.
Time zones and length of flight
There are many travel factors that tourists take into consideration when choosing a long haul destination. The term used for this world standard time is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This term evolved in 1884 and from that time each area of the world took on a time that was either behind or ahead. For example, Africa is two hours ahead of GMT, so we refer to the time as GMT+2. The term is also known as Zulu or UTC (Universal Coordinate Time). Arrival and departure times for journeys are always quoted in local time, so it is important to be accurate when working out the actual addition or subtraction time taken for a journey. Daylight saving time (DST) has been adopted in most regions of the world and in UK it is known as British Summer Time (BST). The International Date Line is the imaginary line on the earth that separates two consecutive calendar days. Travelling west across the line takes you back one day (e.g. UK to Australia), travelling east takes you forward one day (e.g. UK to America). Travelling to different time zones affects travellers by jet lag which is experience from travelling to different time zones where a person has to adjust to the local time. It can take a few days to adjust to the new time zone.
Seasonality and extreme climatic conditions
Based on the seasons, long haul destinations have particular times of the year when it is best to visit. Some destinations have rainy season when humidity is high so conditions can be unpleasant for visitors. Tropical weather is dominated by the movement of the tropical rain belt which moves from the northern to the southern tropics over the year. The tropical rain belt lies in southern part from October to March and during this time it’s common to experience a wet season. From April to September the rain belt is at northern part experiencing wet season too. Extreme climatic conditions
