Main themes in The crucible
Honesty is the most important thing in life,and what keeps relationships healthy between people,and hysteria is widespread in many countries. People accuse each other for wrong doing even though they weren’t sure. In The crucible by Arthur miller written in 1692 proposes how people long ago used to act concerning witchcrafts ,and to face in certain situations in Salem, Massachusetts. Most of the people were fanatics and they were involved in prayers and church , they punished the people who don’t obide by the rules of the church.They also weren’t honest to each other , like manipulating and hysteria.There are many themes which are clearly stated in The crucible but the main theme is dishonesty , accusing people for committing wrong doingand hatred between them.
One of the main characters in the novel that is modified a liar is Abigail,the antagonist in The crucible. She is a young 17 year old girl who is sexually active and has an affair with John Proctor ,a farmer in Salem.She is heinous and is never honest with the church nor with her uncle Reverend Paris.She manipulated her friends to say fabrications and threatening them when they were in Betty’s room before her uncle came.She lied that she never commit witchcraft but she did,while drinking the blood and wishing Elizabeth Proctor ,John’s wife to die.They accused many people of having contact with the devil from Abigail’s fault, such as when she accused Sarah Good, Elezabeth Proctor and Tituba for having in contact with the devil. Abigail was acting so innocent that she didn’t do anything.Last but not least, the majority of the people were dishonest to each other and saying false accusations but Abigail is the main one.
