In five years, I could see myself working at SCVNGR/LevelUp in the Marketing Department because I would feel a sense of professionalism while remaining productive towards the mission. This “mission” features the fostering of customer loyalty where consumers who use this easy-to-use app can earn rewards such as discounts for restaurants. People travel to different places, fulfill challenges and earn points that lead to these prizes. While the concept seemed marketable, the revenue decreased, which led to LevelUp, in 2011, a mobile payment method that is easy, efficient, and incentivizes customers by issuing discounts. This project opened my eyes to the marketing major and firms. Kevin Hylant described to us the lifestyle of his company. Having a title such as “sales rockstar,” he illustrated that the focus of the business is to create a meaningful and useful product rather than concentrate on superficial labels. The less “professional” atmosphere seems more attractive and beneficial to me because it shows that employees feel more comfortable with each other and can freely talk about different ideas without being intimidated by higher authorities. An environment like this would help increase my interest and confidence in working harder towards a certain goal since I would not feel as constrained and pressured when presenting in front of an actual CEO. Additionally, the fact that LevelUp is a start-up company is more appealing to me, especially early out of college. Kevin Hylant, who is now the head of an office in Chicago for this company, explained how the employees are visionary, flexible, and dynamic. The benefit of these characteristics is that the individual opinions of the employees would stand out in contrast to a larger, older companies with more employees and title-based representatives. The youth of the firm allows me to learn more from their amateur mistakes and concerns that are bound to happen as the start-up becomes bigger. Lastly, this

Shakespeare's plays have amazed many generations with his superior vocabulary and compelling characters and plot. Shakespeare's plays would not be nearly as well known or rejoiced if it wasn't for the Globe Theatre, a revolutionary (at the time) design that made it easy for the audience to see the performance. The theatre unfortunately was burnt on June 29, 1663 was rebuilt on June 1964, but more on that later. The Globe was Shakespeare's first theatre for the company he worked for; they built it just for their playwright's which at the time was amazing. Shakespeare had a love for the theatre and felt that the building of the Globe Theatre many more people would be able to enjoy it also, and he was right.…

When you go to a movie theater you see all kinds of different people. Whether or not it females or males, young or old, American or non-American. There are different perspectives in which the movie will be seen. I think a good example would be the movie 2012. It is a science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich and distributed by Columbia Pictures. 2012 was a global film that all people were interested to see. This movie came out in 2009 and when it was in the making in 2008, all of my friends were already talking about the movie but what really surprised me were the reasons that they were going to see the movie for. Benjamin Trujillo’s, a family friend, reason to go see the movie was so that his wife and kids can see the way the world is going to end if they don’t behave according to the bible. Benjamin grew up as a very potent Christian and his wife was not that very religious so therefore he…

OPRF high school is brimming with diverse cliques, groups, and clubs. But one particular cohort seems to stand out from the rest. The theatre department, overseen by Michelle Bayer, can be described as a whirlwind of activity, with 10 official productions each year. My group researched it for the education unit, but the majority of them were unfamiliar with the activity, and I felt the overall presentation was unrepresentative of what high school theatre is. It can be characterized, primarily, by an abundance of drama, both in the acting sense, and in the social sense. Theatre kids are infamous for their diva-like attitudes, and occasional entitlement. I had the opportunity to observe these behaviors up close and personal with my shows I participated in this year.…

How have you been? Hope everything is will with you and your family. You and I haven’t had much time to speak these past few weeks, so I decided to write you this letter in order to update you on the current events that have occurred in my life recently. Two days ago, I attended a baroque sinfonia at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, directed by Adam Gilbert, director of the early music program. The program consisted of selections from The Fairy Queen, originally composed by Henry Purcell. The overall performing environment was quite outstanding. It was great that the performers were on an elevated stage, making it much easier to see and hear them. It’s always crucial to be able to make eye contact with the performers in order to establish a personal connection with them. The event was very well attended. All the seats were practically filled causing some of the audience to stand up because there was no room. Overall, the audience seemed to be educated and had a great deal of knowledge on the music that was being performed. Also, the musical program was well organized, being consisted of five acts. The program passed out to the audience consisted a libretto, a text of all the words and stage directions of a piece, which made it much more easier to understand what was occurring on stage at the moment. The instruments I encountered at this concert were the violin, viola, cello, violone, harpsichord, lute, theorbo, guitar, oboe, bassoon, trumpet and recorder. Fortunately, I had learned about most of these instruments and what they sound like in my music class, so I was able to identify which instrument was being played at a certain time.…

Have you ever wondered how the theater become so popular? People will think that it was because of Hollywood or some other thing, but it started on the eastern side of the world. There was a movement called the Renaissance, and that movement created theaters and many other things that people enjoy in our modern world. There were many theaters during the Renaissance, but one of the greatest known theaters were the Elizabethan theaters. The Elizabethan theater would not become a spectacular place for entertainment if it was for a new time period, the playwrights, and the theater’s design and features.…
