The World Without the Internet
The Internet is a world wide network of interconnected educational, governmental, and business computers. Anyone with a personal computer and a modem can communicate across the Internet. Your computer does this by sending data, via an electronic Internet Protocol (IP) packet, to a particular destination on the Internet. Communications software "reads" the addresses and forward the packets. Since the mid-1980s, the Internet has grown from a thousand or so networks to tens of thousands, and is available to millions of people around the globe

Internet has become the most common media of interacting with the rest of the world. Also known as the World Wide Web, it is a network of computers connected together from all over the world, allowing users to share and transmit information. The Internet has positively changed the face of modern day communication and commerce. It has evolved to become one of the most important inventions in mankind's history. The Internet is all about simple and speedy communication. It connects people from all over the world. According to Global Internet Trends Report (2002), on Internet access and penetration, almost 10% of the world's population had access to the Internet at the end of May 2002. This represented a global Internet audience of 580.78 million people, up from 407.1 million in December 2000.

Nowadays people of the world use the internet broadly. Invention of the internet has had many different effects in many various aspects of the human life. Although I dont deny some negative effects of the invention of the internet but I violently disagree with this opinion that internet has had only negative effects on civilization. Internet is like a knife. You can kill a man with a knife or use it for cutting fruits and eating them. It is only an instrument and can be used for good or bad purposes. Internet is an instrument too. It can be very useful and would have good results. I now point out some good aspects of the internet:

With using internet you can communicate with persons from other side of the world and ,send and receive file , software, picture, etc. to each other or share them .You can find and download good e-books from internet and study them. EC (Electronic Commerce) is another new thing in internet that has its own benefits. So people can trade with each other without traveling long distances. With internet people can check their accounts in the bank. They can reserve airplane and train tickets just with clicking mouse. Students of universities can select their courses for a term by going to the site of the university. So internet has had a lot of positive effects on our civilization.

Internet has been perhaps the most outstanding innovation in the field of communication in the history of mankind. As with every single innovation, internet has its own advantages and disadvantages. But usually, greater magnitude of advantages outweighs its disadvantages.

During his evolution journey from Neanderthals to Homo erectus and then to Homo sapiens, man has come long way. Because of his continuous quest for more and more amenities and facilities, the nineties have seen a major turn around with the invention of computers. 10 years ago, the term internet was practically anonymous to most of the people. And today internet has become the most ever powerful tool for man throughout the world. The internet is a collection of various services and resources.

Although, many people still think e-mail and World Wide Web as the principle constituents of internet, there is lot more in store than e-mail, chat rooms, celebrity web sites and search engines. It also became the best business tool of modern scenario. Today internet has brought a globe in a single room. Right from news across the corner of the world, wealth of knowledge to shopping, purchasing the tickets of your favorite movie-everything is at your finger tips. Internet has great potential and lot...
