Everyone got in a line, and coach told us who was going to do the PKs. She called on Damien, Dominic, Evan, Bash, and me. Damien went up to the line while the other team's goalie got ready to block it. Damien kicked the ball right at the corner of the goal and the ball went in. We all cheered loudly and then waited tensely as Damien then got ready to be goalie. The other team's kicker went up to the line and kicked it right at Damien so he blocked it easily. Next, I was up to kick. I kicked it to the bottom left corner of the goal and…
And to finish up that inning we just got a couple ground balls and we turned a double play. And for the next few innings nothing really happened both teams were struggling to hit. Now it's like the 5th inning and we have the top of our hitting order up so we had:Liam,Luke,Ryan,Alex as our 1,2,3,4 hitters. And we got a rally going and we scored a couple runs so at this point the score is 5-1 and we have the lead so then I go into the 6th inning to pitch and I can only do ⅔ of the inning so than Ryan comes in and pitches and to finish out the 7th Alex pitches a 3 strikeout inning. So the game was over and the presedent of the league gave me the game ball to keep and bring home and everyone on our team got a trophy to take home after we won we were all so happy that we won the championship because it was or a lot of people the first time they won something. The…
After finishing my breakfast the game started and I was a starting point guard and i was also the jumper. I tipped the ball to my team we started with it. By the end of the first quarter we were up 12-0 with all points scored by me. In the second quarter we started with the ball and immediately scored on the other team. After scoring the immediate basket we all knew this quarter was going to be like the first one, a total blow out. We ended the second quarter 21-0 still with all points scored by me.…
One late, Thursday night, under our home court, we played St. Cloud Tech. We played them earlier in the season, so we were ready to take them down another round. I was a little sad because I knew that I probably was not going to play this game, but I would not let that affect my attitude. Once we started, I continued to warm up and cheer as I always would. The whistle blew; my team won the first set. Once the second set started, I heard the whistle blow again. This time it signaled something else. It was a substitution, meaning I was going in to play. I was ecstatic that I got the chance to play with my friends and prove to my coaches. After some very intense volleys, the whistle blew once more. We, the Sartell Sabres, had won the second set and were moving on to the third set. While…
The tension was getting more intense as the seconds passed. We were sitting in the dressing room waiting to go out on the Uruguayan field. Getting the prep talk from coach. The dream place for every player.I couldn't believe it. We had actually made it. We beat the best team on the semi-finals.Richard Downworth’s soccer team had done the impossible and reached the finals. They a team from the lowest rank of the soccer leagues. Charlie Jones was the best kid having scored in the semifinals as a 21 year old substitute.…
The team we were up against was the fierce, very talented number 2 in the state, the Rattlers. Recruiting players from all over the country to play on one team, they were a powerhouse no doubt. Josh back in the lineup after sitting out that last game and the hour break we had, he was all fueled up and ready to go. First inning comes up and they bat first putting up a enormous number of runs counting up to 10 in the first. We came back with a 2 run inning. shut them down in the second, and came back another 3 run inning cutting their lead in half. Slowly gaining momentum we knew what we came here to dude and that was to win this championship. Third inning rolls around and we shut them down for the second consecutive inning. We come to bat, three walks in a row and im due up with the bases loaded. Pitcher throwing close to 92 mph, look almost impossible to hit. first pitches goes by and my eyes widened that was the fastest thing i've ever seen right down the pipe for strike one. Next pitch same result. Third pitch i knew it was coming, i reached back threw my bat at the ball and hit a GRAND SLAM! Putting out team down just 1 run with 3 innings to…
We were playing Montgomry Bell Academy, MBA we called them. The first quarter wasn’t anything to speak about. By the beginning of the second quarter, the score was one nothing and we weren’t the ones winning. Anyone who has ever played lacrosse knows that even a one-point lead is a lot in this sport. It was the beginning of the second quarter and I was starting with a face-off. I crouched down in front of the other player, sweat dripping off his maroon jersey, our sticks were on the ground in front of us, with the ball between us, beckoning me to scrape it away. I was nervous because the other guy was bigger than me but I was excited to start playing. The ref yelling SET and blowing his whistle brought me out of my head and into the game. I stood straight up and pushed the other guy out of the way and tried to kick the ball away from him but he knocked me down. I…
The whole team was mad but there was no one to be at but ourselves. We stop playing our ball and it cause us to lose the game. That day was an eye opener for me. I learn that day to never get rap up in the glory because anything can taking away in seconds. I learn to always work hard at something you want. If you want something you must go out and handle your business. Once you get to top never stop working keep working and striving to be better. Even if you're the best still push and…
I am on the rough turf with the ball in my hands and blue cleats in my peripheral vision. In that moment, all I could hear were the voices in my head yelling "no". My position as goalie contradicts many of my human instincts. The voices tell me not to sacrifice my body to save a shot, but I have been trained to do so. Anxiousness fills my body as I hit the ground, but relief overcomes my mind when I feel the ball inside my palms. The details of this image are a blur. I can only remember where this took place and when. The people in the image are only a vague memory, but the emotions are, oh, so real. Some moments will be forgotten, but the feelings in that moment will always be remembered.…
I had just finished my freshman year of high school, now playing on my school’s summer baseball team. It was a perfect summer night on the baseball field; playing against one of the teams I disliked the most, Ava. It was always a close game playing them; they had good players who always played hard. Going into the 7th inning the game was tied, three to three. I came up to the plate wanting to help my team win the game. As the pitch came in my eyes lit up, it was a fastball right down the middle. I swung and hit the ball into left field.…
I was 9 years old on a soccer team in a school called Brightwood. We have a soccer game every Thursday and Brightwood was going against a school called Truesdell. I was warming up for the game and our coach was giving a speech about our tactics for winning the game and not losing focus of the game. My coach said “today is not the day to be a star, but to play as one”. Most of the players weren't focused on my coach's speech. I heard what the coach had said, but I had my own plans, I felt excited l that this will be the game I can prove that I am a someone.…
On Too Hot to Handle, I had many friends and there were some really good soccer players on it. Duringing one of our games, everyone was all bunched together fighting for the ball but, I stayed out of it calling for the ball. My teammate Ivy got the ball and kicked it out to me and I took off running on a breakaway. All the parents were screaming cheering me on as I ran. Once I was close enough to the goal I shot and scored. Everyone was cheering and my teammate can and gave me hugs. I was so happy in that moment I felt like I could do anything and that's when I truly found the love for soccer.…
The ball simply combed through the field person to person, shots ripped through the air struck by cannons of legs, and overall team cooperation were instantaneously amplified when they were substituted into the game. (Personification/Metaphor) Soon after, we blended them into our groups during games and in practices. The games we played in practice like “Keep Away” and “World Cup” coerced us to become stronger with completing passes and shot accuracy. Our coach at the time was my favorite soccer coach by far. He was the most inspirational man I’ve ever known and I credit him for the love of the sport that I have developed over the year. His electric personality and ability to bring two conflicting grades together into one homogenous, coagulating unit superseded my…
He sets the ball down and blows the whistle. I run up as hard as I can and kick the ball in the corner. The ball is bouncing around, but my teammate gets a handle on it and crosses it to me for my first goal of the season 5 minutes into the game! Then, it happened. I am so excited jumping around with my teammates as I hear a pop from my knee. I panic and I collapse to the ground crying. My mom comes onto the court and carries me off. She tells me we have to go to the ER as I refuse to move. She then forces me up and then off to the ER we…
Billy, our team’s center, bends down and laces his fingers around the brown leather of the ball and snaps it back. Immediately in response I burst forward running past my defender…
