The Unloved Ones
Djenica Chery

Speech
The unloved ones Over 400,000,000 abandoned children live on their own on the streets of hundreds of cities around the world.
Can you believe that every 2 seconds a child become orphan.
My questions to you are. How would you feel if you know that you’re parents abandoned you because they didn’t want you or simply because they could not afford to keep you? How would you feel to know that your parents trade you for just 5 bucks or for whatever it was?
There are so many children on the world that never know their real parents. Abandoned a child is just as cruel as abortion; sometimes I just think it worse because you going to have that baby and just leave it on the side of the road or trade it for a bag of weeds, or simply leave it on someone’s door step. Most of those children grow up to be serial killers, thieves, gangster etc..they never ask to be born; I simply hate to see the innocents one suffered, the innocents are always the ones paying for our mistakes; they never do us wrong, but yet we treat them as a piece of garbage; we put them in a little box and said “bye, nice knowing you” and you don’t know if that child is going to survive or if someone nice going to pick it up or simply get eating by animals. That is the most cruel thing any human being can do. Think about it

These are Children, like you and me; unlike you and me, they are orphaned. When we are young, we are a mothers and fathers precious thing. We belong to our parents and our parents alone. Yet unfortunate circumstances occur and the parent is not there to provide the necessities of life to that child. These children are then left to fend for themselves in the real world. The definition of an orphan is a child whose parents are dead. Deceased, departed from this natural world. As humans we understand or we presume we know what these orphans go through. Their experiences and their own childhood has gone right in front of their eyes.…

In "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" author Ursula K. Le Guin uses the utopian society of Omelas to symbolically highlight the ugly and unsavory state of the human condition. This story delves into this idea of ethics and morality and concocts a set of solutions that one can consider when contemplating ethics and morality. People and societies often struggle with morality while facing dilemmas with what is right or wrong. Within this, a moral dilemma exists as the story depicts a utopian perfect happy place where everyone is in a state of euphoria. People were described in this story as a cheerful community celebrating a summer festival. This insinuates how Omelas is very much like a utopian place where everyone relishes in infinite happiness. Nevertheless, all these comforts are made permissible in exchange for an unfortunate condition: that a child shall endure isolation and suffering, locked up in what appears to be a cupboard in an unspecified room within Omelas. The salient descriptions used to express the child’s predicament gives an image of a deprived, unloved, and underfed being.…

Sadly, parents also used infanticide as a way to dispose their children. Killing of infants was practiced and accepted as a way for them to dispose their unwanted or deformed child. Back then, killing newborns was accepted as a way to limit family size. Defective children were also killed in fear of it being hereditary and the belief that the child is the work of the devil or what we know as…

“It is not always in the best interest of the child to be born” (Jacob, 2006). A great example comes from the book Abortion under Attack. It features a story from a girl whose father never wanted her. She “suffered emotional abuse of hearing on a regular basis that she was unwanted and unwelcomed.” (Jacob, 2006) A lot of children are sadly born into this type of unloving environment when a mother is too poor to afford an abortion and doesn’t have the support to take care of the child or when they are born into a strained relationship. When a child is born to parents who don’t want them, would it not have been in their best interest to have been aborted? Rather than be subject to emotional or physical abuse or loveless lives in group homes, they could have never had to experience any of the pain; they never would have known. The fetus is not a conscious being, so when it is aborted it feels no pain; it is as if it never existed.…

There are always cases of women who just don’t want their baby, or can’t care for them. If someone doesn’t want their baby or cant care for their child, there is always adoption. There are families out there that can’t have children, so the logical thing to do would be to give their baby to someone who wants them. However, there are some cases that involve rape and or harm to the baby, the mother, or both. In some cases, they should still consider adoption. I would rather say, “I gave my baby away to have a better life” than say, “I killed my baby for selfish reasons”. Abortion is not legal or illegal because of the Roe vs. Wade case, but that still doesn’t make it right. – (historical allusion)…

Don’t you think we would've been best friends?”(Ten by Yellowcard) Do not have to wonder those like Ryan Keys had to. If the mistake to have a child is made and the parent does not want it the best choice would be adoption not abortion. My best friend Lizzie was adopted and she is a great person so who knows what the child who is being aborted would be like. She is also still in touch with her biological mother and is close with her as well as her adoptive parents. It is also shown that 85% of women who have abortions report a negative mental health issue, as shown in the song ten it also causes the father to have regrets as well. An unborn baby is not a piece of trash and it should not be thrown away like it is. Save the child and the parents…

Late one night a young woman was walking home from work when a man approached her then raped her. Soon after, she discovered that he impregnated her. She felt that abortion was the only choice because living with the constant reminder of what had happened to her was too much to handle. Also she knew that she wouldn’t be able to love or treat it the way it should be loved or treated. Physician Felicia H. Stewart and economist James Trussell estimated that 333,000 assaults and rapes reported in the US in 1998 caused about 25,000 pregnancies. (Wikipedia) People come up with all kinds of excuses when their lives become more difficult so that they can take the easier way out. Unfortunately with abortion there is no easy way out. No matter what decisions are made someone is going to get hurt; may be the mother, the father or perhaps it’s the baby that will have to pay for its parents stupidities. Abortion should only be a last resort in cases like rape or being too sick to actually give birth. If the child will be mistreated or unloved, adoption is always an option. It’s the mother’s decision since it is her body and her life. Even in some of these cases abortion is not okay because adoption is always available if you cannot handle a child. Everyone has their own opinions and mine is that I’m “Pro-Choice”. Meaning that I’m not fully against abortion, but I’m not fully for it. I believe that it’s your own decision what happens to your child.…
