Homo-sapiens, which means “wise man” or “knowing man” in Latin, is the only living creature with a highly developed brain, allowing him to have the capacity to reason, behave, talk and think, making it an intelligent being. According to the Thesaurus dictionary, intelligence is the ability to perceive, understand and reason. But we all know that not everybody has the same kind of intelligence. Mr. Howard Gardner took the time to study the different types of intelligence and establish that there were seven kinds of it; he named them and called his work Frames of Mind. The Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Visual-Spatial, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal are the seven original multiple intelligences models, over time, he added three more models of intelligence; Naturalist, Spiritual-Existential and Moral. By the description of each one, my first model of intelligence is the Visual-Spatial. Gardner describes Visual-Spatial as the interpretation and creation of visual images; pictorial imagination and expression; understands relationship between images and meanings, and between space and effect. The typical roles in this type of intelligence are designers, artists, cartoonist, architects, photographers and others. I may not be any of these things, but I can find relation with this for the reason that I like to paint and photograph. I find really interesting to watch a painting, a sculpture, a mural and even the environment and the people around me. In other words, I consider myself as a person that appreciates the atmosphere and the culture. Besides that, I can tell that I have a curious and “out of this world” imagination. I have the ability to visualize things that some people may not understand. Sometimes I can picture an event or an object in my mind with just descriptions without any difficulty, without even closing my eyes.
