The Significance of Desire in Our Lives

Desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. To desire is to be in a certain state of mind. It is a state of mind familiar to everyone who has ever wanted to get a drink of water or desired to know what has happened to old friends. Desire is something that lives deep within a person, but can only be seen through objects one acquires or how hard a person works. This desire can be intense and passionate which helps to fuel the fire within someone. I believe this is the most important personal attribute because of what people will do to get what they desire. Each person has their own unique amount of desire within them. As a teenager I have always wished to travel. It has been a dream of mine and now because I am close to being on my own, it has become a strong desire. To make this happen for me, there will be a bunch of planning and responsibilities that I need to go over. Although there will be a ton of preparation, the craving to want to go discover and explore the world is what fuels my desire. Desire does not always have to be something I wish to do. Desire can also mean I want to obtain a certain lifestyle, for the better of myself. I know that I have much more of my life to live, but when I think about how long that is, I think why not make it enjoyable. When we are younger, we tend to think that when something goes wrong it is the end of the world. As I have matured much more since then, I realized I have wasted a lot of time being upset about silly little things. I have now set a goal to always be happy. It is something I wish to be every day of my life. Of course, unhappiness is inevitable in certain situations, but being upset is a mental emotion. When I smile, the people around me tend to smile, and that is only because of the positive energy my smile gives off. With the mindset to always be a positive impact, not only on my life, but the others involved in it, I can achieve that desire...
