The Role Of Employee Preferences And Organizational Culture In Explaining E-Commerce Orientations

Introduction

The article aims to address the disparity in attitude to e-commerce orientation among individuals, and how the implementation and use of communication technologies are closely related and interlinked with internal socio – cultural elements of an organization, including their way of thinking, their philosophy and the culture of their organization.

More and more businesses today use various forms of e-communication as well as e-commerce to facilitate growth and expansion of their business. New technology facilitates newer (sometimes easier) communication methods for both, communication within the organization as well as for communication with other businesses.

Mainly, the article aims to prove the hypotheses that high versus low-context values and perceptual and demographic characteristics of employees influence attitudes towards e-communication. In simpler words, employees’ background, their education as well as their age, will affect they way they view and accept e-communication as a part of their everyday work routine.

Literature Review

A sizeable amount of literature has been collected since the appearance of the internet and its related functions in business. Much has also been said and written about the influence of organizational culture and individual attitude playing an important part in the absorption of e-communication in business. Keeping this in mind, the article aims to prove the following hypotheses:
