The Rating System
It seems like since the beginning of entertainment there has been a rating system. There is a rating system mostly for all entertainment from movies-books. Before there was even a rating system, there was something called “The Hays Code” or “The Motion Picture Production Code”. The Motion Picture Production Code was the set of industry censorship guidelines which governed the production of the vast majority of United States motion pictures released by major studios from 1930 to 1968. MRS was introduced in order to ensure that nobody would ever have to listen to bad music again, by definitively rating all songs and or albums on a five star basis. Research has shown that many people, prior to the introduction of MRS, were in fact listening to music of such low standards that it is thought to have caused hemorrhaging of the brain, leading to a decrease in sexual activity, a predilection to wear loud shirts, and death.   The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is an industry organization that has developed a rating system for computer, Internet and video games.
Lieberman has been criticized by some computer and video game players for his stance on video games. As a Senator he inspired the advent of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. The Entertainment Software Association is against governmental regulation of or restriction on video games. He has also been vocal in the censorship of many controversial musical artists. In the late 1990s Lieberman was vocal in lobbying for censorship against shock rocker Marilyn Manson; calling his group "one of the sickest" he had ever seen. As a senator he inspired the advent of the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The Entertainment Software Association is against governmental regulation of or restriction on video games.
