Anti-smoking Advertisements: The Plain Truth
Smoking advertisements are geared to entice different people abroad such as in England, Canada, France and the United States. Smoking related deaths is the number one killer amongst the three countries yet the anti smoking companies continues to use countless efforts to get their message out to stop smoking. Their message is clear, smoking causes lung cancer, tumors, heart and lung disease, leads to cataracts, and increases the risk of SIDS. Smoking also causes pre-term delivery, low birth weight in pregnant women and cardiovascular & respiratory diseases just to name a few. All of the illness and health issues from cigarette smoking inevitably leads to: over 480,000 related deaths in the United States, 82,900 in England, 47,000 in Canada, and 66,000 in France each year. It is highly addictive and even though it is a killer, the tobacco companies continue to sell and market the deadly products for a substantial profit 894 million dollars.
There are proven poisons in cigarettes and cigarette smoke such as hydrogen cyanide which is commonly used in rat poisoning and in jail executions. Hydrogen
cyanide is a contributing factor to cardiovascular and chronic obstructive lung diseases. One of the eleven known human carcinogens found in cigarette smoke is Toluene.
Toluene is also used in gasoline. Formaldehyde is also found in cigarette smoke and is commonly used in preserving the dead. Although anti-smoking advertisements are geared to reach different audiences throughout the world the message is clear (don’t buy this product, it is a danger to your health) and it reiterates the same information time and time again. They may use texts and pictures that may be unethical or offensive to others but how far are they willing to go to make their point clear.
