The Pigs’ Transformation
The book
Animal Farm
, a satire fable, by George Orwell was inspired by the Russian
Revolution (19171945). At the beginning of this novella Old Major gathers up all the animals to tell them about a dream that he has had. Before he shares with them his dream he gives a speech; a speech about a vision of a place in which the animals will live together in peace and harmony and tells them that they must work toward such a paradise. Three nights after the meeting Old
Major dies peacefully in his sleep. After several days of being mistreated the animals decide that they’ve had enough and decide to rebel against their oppressive leader, Mr. Jones. They are successful in throwing him out and take control of the farm and decide to manage the farm by themselves. Three pigs Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer later take leadership of the animals and formulate Old Major’s main principles into a philosophy called Animalism. Although the transition of the pigs to humanlike is very gradual there are many signs foreshadowing their transformation. Through out this novella Snowball and Napoleon have continuous disputes, Snowball prefers to continue helping the other animals in reading and writing; while Napoleon decides to

Afterward Napoleon uses ferocious dogs, the small pups, to chase Snowball off the farm, and later takes on the position of the leader. Napoleon starts to prove that the pigs are turning humanlike by defying the Seven Commandments and doing everything that humans do.
Something that the pigs start to do is that they start to drink alcohol, and Squealer changes the
Seven Commandments so that it seems that it isn’t a bad thing if they drink, “No animal shall drink alcohol to excess .”(pg.113). Another humanlike thing that they do

The pigs force the hens to lay more eggs and the cows to produce more milk to sell, all whilst claiming the farm is running better than it had before the revolution. The story ends with the pigs refuting the rules that were the tenets of the rebellion. “The creatures looked from pig to man, and from man to pig; but already it was impossible to say which was which”. This shows that the farm is no longer democratic, and the pigs are now just like men, the former dictators.…

First of all, Squealer displayed language manipulation throughout the novel. For instance, when the animals in the farm discovered that the milk and the apples were disappearing, it turned out that the milk and the apples were gone to the pigs. Later, Squealer started manipulating with words when he said to the animals in the farm, “Comrades! You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself” (Orwell,…

George Orwell’s Animal Farm contains a particular character named Napoleon, a fierce-looking Berkshire boar. Napoleon is conniving, a plagiarist and manipulative. At a meeting, when the animals had to make a decision, Orwell showed Napoleon’s first conniving scheme, “Napoleon stood up and, casting a peculiar sidelong look at Snowball, uttered a high-pitched whimper...dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws” (Orwell 39). Here the dogs that Napoleon had raised attacked Snowball. It is apparent that Napoleon took these dogs to use them for what he needed, and at this time he needed to get Snowball out of the way. This action of attacking Snowball was very harmful, he only just barely…

One of the many ways that napoleon stays in power is by animalism. Animalism is a government made up by the pigs, it has seven commandments but can be simplified into “Four legs good, two legs bad”. The pigs changed the commandments throughout the story so that the commandments will benefit them and only them. For example there is a rule that no animal shall drink alcohol, and the pigs took it upon themselves to change the rule while they were under the influence themselves! The new rule read(italics mean the new part) ‘no animal shall drink alcohol to excess” The pigs eventually changed all of the commandments into one rule which read” All animals are equal but some are more equal than others”.…

When Old Major dies a few nights after his famous Rebellion speech, Napoleon and Snowball, both boars, combine together and formulate his main principles into a philosophy called Animalism. A few nights later when they have defeated Mr Jones in battle and changed the farm name to Animal Farm they work together in running the farm. Snowball teaches the animals to read, whilst Napoleon educates a young group of puppies. It is here where Napoleon first begins to work on the beginning of the Rebellion when he tells Mollie and Bluebell that education was more important to the young than the old as he was preparing for the next generation. However what he was really doing was preparing for the uprising against Snowball, to take charge of the farm, when the dogs would play a pivotal role acting as body guards to him.…

Napoleon is a large manipulative pig that emerges as the leader of Animal Farm after the rebellion against the humans. Napoleon can be compared to Joseph Stalin because he uses his nine attack dogs to intimidate the other animals and control his power. Napoleon can be characterized as relentless because he stops at nothing to ensure his success. In fact, he is willing to force harsh rations among the animals and make them work extremely hard because he wants the farm to be successful even if it costs the lives of others. Through his harsh actions, he not only instills fear into the animals, but also reveals his true character in that he is a selfish pig that only cares about himself.…
