English 101 The Other F Word

In the film “ The other F Word” it shows each journey of punk rockers and how they transform into fathers. Each rocker had their own stories and how they experienced their life journeys with their parents. These punk rockers had to go through many different changes to devote their life to their children. One of the men that were interviewed stated, “It caused us to think back on our own childhood and our relationships with our parents”.

Jim Lindberg was part of a band called “Pennywise” he devoted almost 20 years to that band. They went on tours and attended events and partied like rock stars for most of their life. He lived a crazy party life most of his teen and adult years. Jim and his band Pennywise toured about 260 days out of the year. At their shows Jim was always wasted or high on drugs. They got into brawls, picked up different chicks each night and lived their life without worry. They were icons and everyone looked up to the dumb things they did. They were considered “cool” and hip back when their bands were popular. Jim then decided to have a family but didn’t know what responsibilities were going to come with having children and how life changing it can actually be.

Jim Lindberg had three daughters, but was also very dedicated to his band Pennywise. Jim had to choose between his family and the band most of the time. He wanted to be apart of his kid’s lives, but also needed his band for finical stability and to raise his children. Jim missed a lot of important events his children were included in and different stages in their lives. Jim wanted to be different then dads that walked in and out of their kid’s lives. Jims journey from switching to living life without worries to raising children quickly changed. He had to transform his everyday life to a life he didn’t understand.
