Why are you interested in The Ohio State University?
As an international student quiet by nature, the first thing that I look for in a university is its freshman programs. The Ohio State University’s nation-renowned First Year Experience (FYE) caught my eye with its dazzling array of programs available exclusively for freshmen. There is even a program for you to find friends and these programs gave me the assurance that transition to college life will be smooth. Also, The Ohio State University ensures that every freshman is given the best start in his or her college life. By arranging competitions and projects, the university makes first year life much more than just classroom lessons. This really thrills me for I believe in teaching for understanding and there is realy no better way than through competitions and projects to test my understanding for a certain area without involving much risk. The exclusive resources, such as the 24- hour lab in Hitchbock 342, also give us the room to grow and save us from the need to compete with our seniors for facilities. Beyond first year, the university once again shows how it translates size to facilities to excellence for students. The Engineering Education Innovation Center will become a favorite hangout of mine as I will be able to meet numerous like-minded individuals while applying what I learn in classrooms and lectures to real-life situations. The resources available at the center, which has many researches going on at any point in time, will certainly allow me to maximize my potentials. The capstone industrial attachment program caps a wonderful college education and paves out my life beyond college, making sure that I graduate as a person with a clear idea what my next step is. Certainly, The Ohio State University appeals to me by answering my three main questions regarding college—how to adapt to college life, what to do in college and what to do after college.
