The Old New York City Resident
Do you know what different is between mouse and rat? Before I had arrived New York City, I was never clear about the definition of these two words. What I only know is that both of them are real rodent animals and totally different with the lovely Mickey Mouse. However, I found the answer in New York City. The one living in subway or on street is rat, whereas the other living in house is mouse. In one word, rat is in a bigger size than mouse.
New York City, the center of the world, is amazing, especially from the view on plane. Never would I forget the first sight I looked down from plane when it was landing onto JFK Airport. Modern skyscrapers, fashion shops, comfortable climate, gorgeous museums and beautiful central park, all of them make me fall in love with this city, but only one thing drives me crazy here! Under this city’s wonderful coverage live a great number of rodent animals. They are in subway, on streets, as well as in some corners of buildings where you might never know.
If you asked my husband which moment most impressed him after our arrival at this city, he would probably answer when he was shocked to jump out of bed by my scream at the time I found lots of food in kitchen bitten by mice. As a city girl, I always consider those rodent animals as my natural enemy. I don’t know how to get along with them peacefully. Then we started a fierce war against these rodent-animals, caulking holes, setting traps, sealing all food up. However, I was so surprised by the high-intelligent of these rodent animals. They successful stole the food from the trap but didn’t fell in it. How clever they are! I even haven’t seen them in my home. They just seemed like the ghost which you couldn’t see them but could feel them there.
