THE NICE GUY-CASE STUDY (REFLECTION)

This case study is centred on Paul Kennedy. He is potentially in line to become the CEO of Daner Associate; a new media company. It is virtually his dream instead of focusing more on the future of this company. Is he capable enough to land this job?
Management is defined as the attainment of organizing, leading and controlling of organization resources. (Daft and Marcia, 2008). It could be a group of people or entities. The main theories that are being exhibited in this case study are the functions of management, decisional role, as well as personal development planning.
From the case, I identified some problems, which I have critically analysed and made suggestions as well as what I have learnt and experienced.

Planning, organising and task assignment and assessment

Paul Kennedy from this case obviously is not able to select goals and ways to attain them. His planning needs a touch up. He is not able to think rationally and strategically.
He has many personal values and loads of activities he has to accomplish in combination with his work on any working day.
I suggest he should be able to balance his work and family life.
Secondly, when it comes to organising and assigning tasks as well as accomplishing them he need to apply a “tough” approach, as he appears very emotional about managing people and relationships at the work place. Take for instance lisa,he should be open and direct to discuss concerns about the quality of work and also to put procedures in place to cover absenteeism rather than going through her files to get the job done. He should be able to monitor activities and make corrections were appropriate.

Self –actualization

He is not competent enough and not creative ,making statements like “maybe “when making decisions .He is not sure what strategies to use to get the best out of his company and his inability to take risk.
