Wednesday, September 17 The most specific and significant experience in USA
Since i can remember, there are many things have been gradually forgotten, but there is one thing that i will always remember. It has impact on my life and helps me walk along the right road.
I flew to America in 1998. When I first landed on the world”s famous city—los angeles.
I thought it was very beautiful: blue sky, white clouds, grass and trees. The streets also seemed very quiet with few people and no car horns. When we crossed the street, all the drivers would stop to let us cross. I felt very secure and happy. I loved America at my first sight.
T he first day I went to Bulter Elementary school, I met my greatest difficulty. I couldn’t speak English and I couldn’t understand what the teachers and students said. When I was in China, I was a boy without any care. I had good friends; good teachers and I could make friends with everyone easily. But everything changed when I was in Bulter School. I had no friends. I felt very lonely and depressed in this new city. Fortunately I made a new friend Michael. He was a Chinese. And he had a sister Lingling. We often played together after school. Michael helped me a lot to adapt to the new school. When I couldn’t understand what other students said, he translated it into Chinese. And he taught me how to play “four square battles”. Then I could play with other students. Once I made new friends, I felt comfortable and had confidence. I am a boy without any care again. My mom always told that family education was very important to the children. I was arranged with assorted extracurricular classes where they are taught to learn piano, drawing, singing, etc., partly because parents wish children to develop in an all-round way and have a head-start in studies than other children. She tries to do nearly everything for me in my childhood, like helping me with dressing, having meals, bathing,

Coming to the U.S was a life changing experience. Riding on a plain was one of the amazing things that happened to me as a little boy. Seeing the sky outside the plain windows just badly wanting to be able to let my arms out and touch the clouds as we flew away and maybe forever from my birth state, I knew that there were going to be changes.…

When my brothers and I were in school my mother was very involved. Every day until my brothers and I graduated high school my mother and father would both ask what homework we had and would help us when we needed it. They would then always look over our work to make sure we understood everything. My parents liked the schools we attended for the most part, but they did wish that there was more one on one time between the students and teachers. Since my mother was a teacher at the elementary school we attended, she was constantly communicating with our teachers. My dad would also…

Growing up in a house with an educator is a great thing. From an early age my Grandma started preparing me for school. My Grandma instilled the hunger of learning in me, which have helped fuel my academic success in English, History, and Mathematics.…

I had always been a good child. No matter how much work I had, I did it. Even if I had two hours of homework, you could count on me to help you. Now that I am an adult, I realize what a wonderful childhood I had. I went to a great private school with the best teachers and students. I even had the privilege of having my very own textbooks. Those who weren’t as lucky, had textbooks destroyed by students who had them before they were even born. It might seem like all I cared about was school, but I loved to have fun. I played with my friends all weekend. My favorite activities to play outside were cricket and badminton. I wasn’t that great at cricket, but I was a formidable badminton opponent. In fact, I was so good that my friends refused to play me for fear of losing 21 to 0. When it was too hot during the summer, or too rainy during the monsoon season, my friends and I played card games. I enjoyed playing an Indian card game called “fish”, in which he goal is to get cards in a certain order. Both of my parents worked in offices, so I always got presents on holidays and my birthdays.…

Even during elementary school, my parents would be there for me the whole way, regardless if they were busy or not. During the period of early elementary school years, I found math to be quite challenging and I could not seem to understand it. My mother would patiently spend countless hours helping me understand the lesson and finish the homework I received. She would also make me do extra homework so the lesson would be more clear to me. Now, math is much more clear to me and it is one of my strongest and most desired classes.…

Education was really vital to my parents upon growing up, they were always concerned about our homework, studying, meeting teachers at school and especially extra curricular activities. They had several restrictions, yet they were vigilant; they didn’t bind us from having the liberty of our own, but it helped them steer us in the right pathway. I remember well, as soon as we would arrive home from school we were ordered to do our homework, and study for what was required, and if we fortunately had free time before going to sleep we were allowed to watch our favorite shows before going to bed. If we had a test the following day, we knew that we would have to watch television on the weekend instead. Even if we didn’t do as good as they would want us to on our test; they would still praise us for our effort. The praise was an element of Western parenting, gave essence to our relationship with them, I believe if my parents didn’t assimilate with us as…
