Romeo and Juliet is the most popular love story ever. It is still directly seen in stories, movies, and plays in modern times. It is a play packed with so much drama. Their are many life lessons to be learned from Romeo and Juliet and all of which still stand true today. There are many themes which can be observed throughout the play such as love, Fate, Foreshadowing, physical gestures, and children versus parent point of view.
Love encourages people to jump before they look. Romeo and Juliet seem to act on pure instinct then they do on rash decision making. They get married over night they speak of just running away together, Romeo kills Tybalt, which is something he probably would not have done unless otherwise in love. Romeo and Juliet both end up committing suicide again something neither of them would even think to do, they both lived somewhat normal and happy lives before meeting each other but after spending such a short time together they can not imagine spending life apart and must end it when they both are under the influence that the other one is gone. love like this is seen in film and theaters all the time. Boy meets girl and they can no longer be apart, they cannot seem to live apart any longer. West side story is basically just a re write of Romeo and Juliet if you look at it, it is just two feuding families who end up having a boy and girl fall in love and tragedy pursues. Even when it comes to real life, people try to live their lives in the hopelessly romantic stage doing almost anything for their fresh found love, sometimes maybe moving too fast, sometimes not, but rarely, if ever ending as dramatic.
Fate is a theme throughout the story. Are Romeo and Juliet actually destined to be together? The book would point to yes, however many people would fight the fact that if fate really is or isn’t.
