The way business has changed today is a result of the process of international business (globalisation). It therefore entails that managers of local businesses and the government have unearthed the fact that there are a number of opportunities and better competitive advantages related to international business. Globalisation entails changes in environmental, economical, political, cultural and social developments through the production of goods and services on an international basis to consumers with the same liking. (Guttal, 2007)
This essay will discuss the opportunities and some risks that may be created for international business by the State, in this case then Rwandan Government and an international business MTN Rwanda a subsidiary of MTN Group.
MTN Group, a multinational telecommunications group, provides communication services around South and East Africa; West and Central Africa and; Middle East and North Africa. It offers business solutions and cellular network access and operates in 21 countries including Rwanda. (www.mtn.co.za)
Many authors have argued that international business poses threats in the business world but have not fully considered that the gains and losses of this practice have not been uniformly distributed. With the evolvement of this idea and advantages involved in globalisation it is therefore appropriate to conclude that the state and local businesses naturally create more opportunities for international business.

International business transactions are the main feature of global economic development activities, and therefore businesses and governments have found positive advantages for long term sustainable economic results, entailing the promotion of global market growth. (Kellow, 2002)
