The Legendary Jim Brown
JAMES Nathaniel Brown was born on February 17,1936 to Theresa and Swinton Brown. Jim Brown was raised in St. Simons,Georgia, an all black community off coast of Georgia.He attented Manhasset High School after finishing High School he attented Syracuse College.Manhasset High School is where he became a football player,he averaged a Long Island record of 38 points per game.Jim was first round of 1956 draft by Cleveland Browns,He departed as the NFL record holder both single-season (1,863 inn 1963) career rushing (12,312 yards),as well as the all time leader in rushing touchdowns (106),total touchdowns (126),and all-porpose yards(15,549).He was the first player ever to reach the 100-rushing touchdowns milestone. Jim was not only a professional football player but he also excelled in basketball,track,and especially lacrosse.As a sophomore,he was the second leading scorer for the basketball team,and earned a letter on the track team.His junior year,he averaged 11.3 points basketball,and was named a second-team All-American in lacrosse.His senior year,he was named a first-team All-American in lacrosse. Brown began his career as an actor with an apperance in Rio Conchos in 1964.He then later played a villain in a 1967 episode of I Spy called "Cops and Roberts",went on to star in the 1967 war movie The Dirty Dozen during which he announced his retirement from professional football,last played for Cleveland Brown 1965.Brown is also a member of The Pigskin Club of Washington,DC,National Intercollegiate All-American Football Player Honor ROLL,In 1988 Brown founded the Amer-I-Can program.He currently works with kids caught up in gang scene in Los Angeles and Cleveland.
