At the end of my speech, everyone will know three major aspects of the island of Zanzibar. CENTRAL IDEA
Knowing about Zanzibar may help you make the decision to one day visit. 1. INTRODUCTION
a. You are on a boat looking down at the clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean. You are looking around until you see this beautiful, exotic island filled with exotic trees and beautiful beaches. As you step on the island the first thing you here is “”. In English Translation, that means “Welcome to the beautiful island of Zanzibar. b. Today I am going to tell you about three major aspects of Zanzibar: History, Culture, and Wildlife. c. Knowing these three things will help you understand what Zanzibar is about. I personally know about Zanzibar because I was born there in the year of 1993. 2. BODY

h. Were mostly run by European countries (Egypt, India, China, Persia, Portugal, and England) until 1963. i. Zanzibar then revolted the following year and then formed with Tanganyika to form Tanzania. j. The island is reachable mostly by ferry and is mostly a tourist island 4. Culture

k. Taarab, a style of music that originated in Zanzibar l. Has a African, Arabic, and Indian influences
m. Also has an energetic dance that mesmerizes people n. The natives believe that you are closer to your ancestors when you do the dance. o. Most of the population is Sunni Muslim
