The internet
While some consider it as a blessing others regard it as a curse, because the internet like everything else in the world has a good and a bad side to it. The one of the main reasons that many people blame is that there is no sense of censorship in the world of the internet.

Without censorship many things spin out of control. People start using the internet as a method of spying rather than a manner of communication they abuse this blessing by placing information or data that is unacceptable such as hacking, others may use it for fraud or theft. When these actions are committed they are considered a as a form of crime, and like all other crimes they are intolerable by society.

A student no longer needs to spend long hours in libraries searching for a desired piece of information. A web search engine can provide the needed material just at a click of a button and no matter which remote corner of the world you are in, the Internet will keep you side by side of the latest developments in your area of interest.

As with every new technology there are those who speak high of the Internet and there are those who portray it in an unfavorable source of knowledge. And as with other new technologies there is nothing wrong with the Internet itself. It is we who are to decide whether the internet is a curse or a blessing. The question as per whether the internet is a blessing or a curse for this millennial generation is attracting a global attention. As a topic of global interest, one just have to take a position but with an unbiased sense of judgment. The advent of internet has brought unprecedented breakthrough in every sphere of human endeavour and perhaps also some negative impact.

Internet simply put, is a cloud based medium that enable dissemination of information internationally among millions of users through a network connecting computers and other compatible gadgets. The information could be accessed in a written form through electronic mail, recorded

There are more cons than pros for the Internet. Nicholas Carr has many great pieces of evidence to support his thesis. I agree because the Internet can take you down many wrong paths but at the same time technology is our future. Today people are not focusing on trying to improve our future, they are worried about today’s fashion or video games or celebrities. One of the studies Carr looked at was by Cornell which figured out that web surfing does distract students. This is good information for schools on how to help their students learn in the best way, and stay on track. The neuroscientist named Michael Merzenich made a very dramatic reason what the long-term effects of the Internet. Merzenich said the Internet could lead to death, which could be right but we don’t have any proof at the moment. At the same time, I think the Internet is a great source for information. I wish Carr talked a little about how the Internet also has important information…

“In 2001, the International Telecommunication Union calculated that, approximately 2.3 billion people had internet access at the end of that year. Since then, the percentage of people using the internet around the world has continued to grow” (Li 2). Censoring the internet has been a hot topic for quite a while now. Many people believe that censoring the web isn’t a good thing because of certain laws and rights we have as citizens. The internet has some cons but it also has many pros. The downside of the censorship is that the truth is blocked out and it violates our freedom of speech. On the other hand, censorship of the internet can reduce the numbers or even stop human trafficking, prevent identity theft, stop cyber bullying and so much…

Although we want it to, nothing will ever be perfect in the world. Yes, the internet has some awful disadvantages that can really hurt some people, but it also has amazing advantages that really help people from day to day. It isn’t fair for people to pick a side about the internet without first looking at all of the pros and cons. They weigh each other out in the long run. As Joshua Green states in his essay, “Through these websites, smiles can be brought to people’s faces, or lives can be completely destroyed.”…

Before we get onto the positive effects of internet use, let’s start with these much touted negative side effects. The naysayers would have us believe that the internet prevents us from interacting on a face to face basis and destroys old fashioned pursuits of writing letters and speaking on the phone; people even meet their spouses online these days! With business and finance now handled online we’re also far too dependent on the internet and would be at a loss should it break down. With the internet in our pocket we’re now never ‘disconnected’ and are at our boss’ beck and call 24 hours a day. Our bank cards are also more susceptible than ever to fraud and theft… And through all this we’re getting addicting and neglecting our real relationships, stuck inside in a more and more hermit like existence. They also say that sitting in front of a computer prevents us from getting outside and basking in fresh air and instead gives us repetitive strain injuries, hunched over spines and square…

People have suffered through not knowing the full extent of the digital age because some governments have prevented them from accessing the information super-highway known as the internet. The internet is censored because of corrupt and controlling governments and schools that think they are helping. Censorship itself is not inherently bad, but the venal tendencies of man are what cause censorship to become the main tool of dictators. The internet should be free, allowing all people of all races and creeds to access its free information. Censorship is an insidious tool that only leads to corruption and lack of creative expression.…

The internet could be a great thing, but also bad. People can abuse the way they use the network. Examples of abusing the network would be posting inappropriate pictures or bullying a person. In my eyes, the internet has turned into a social media network; if you want people to know where you are and what you ate for breakfast or even how you are feeling; you can post it all online so all of their friends can read it. Facebook or Twitter is a good example to search for people, Twitter people can literally follow famous people around but it’s the person running the account telling everyone where they went to eat for lunch; so people have a choice to use the program or not. In my perspective that is just scary, I wouldn’t want unknown people knowing where I am. While using the web, you need to be very careful what websites you browse and who you talk to because you never know who is on the other side of the computer. A good thing about the internet is you can find jobs more easily, shop online, read books, research any topic, and access your own bank account all online. I can see and understand why people can get addicted by using the internet.…

Internet search engines allow you to search the internet, or select pieces of the internet, based on the important words, keeps an index of words they find and where they found them, they also allow you to look for words/combinations of words. The internet allows students to conduct research, evaluate information (think critically about the information they find), and use that information to make a decision. Students also run into problems like inaccurate information or believing everything they read, inability to distinguish different types of information, knowing how to really find information, and understanding citation and respecting copyright. Some questions students should ask themselves when researching on the internet are can you find the name of the author or creator? Are there any credentials/degree, title, etc.? Is there contact information somewhere on the page? Who is the author? What can you tell from the URL? What is the purpose of the web site? Is the site objective? Is this…

In this fast-paced world where everyone is competing to be the first in whatever they are embarking on, face-to-face communication with a person is getting rarer and flipping the books to get information has been a method gone outdated. However, this has been replaced by one powerful tool that does these and even more. This is none other than the Internet. Internet has been defined as the global system of interconnected computer networks designed to serve the people’s needs. Even the definition of Internet is extracted from this tool! Hence, this clearly reasons out why many are unable to imagine a life without the Internet. However, this has also led to the eventual misuse of the program as some have carried out actions that are very damaging using the Internet. They have realised that it can cause a greater negative impact on people due to the large population linked up by this system. Therefore, this essay will discuss about the positive as well as negative impacts of Internet usage on users and people around them.…
