Angliss have been business since 1946. After 2007, the company target to reposition in Hong Kong food service market business. According human resource turnover data, a costly and recurring problem in the company, often leads to company business failure for many operations dilemma.

This descriptive cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between company managerial utilization of leadership practices in operation and labor turnover. A questionnaire, using self-report questions collected data from manager, supervisors and senior leadership practices, job stress and intention on turnover causes. Descriptive statistics and correlations were used to answer the research questions. The findings of this study suggest the leadership practices have a positive influence on intention for turnover rates. Although, the implementation leadership style do not have much an influence on turnover, it act as an important strategy in assisting company operations in reducing the costs associated with turnover and maintain a competitive advantage. Angliss should establish a professional organization can bring attention and awareness to the positive influences of leadership in lowering employee turnover. So, a general leadership guidelines can be developed that could be used by managerial in applying leadership activities to decrease turnover as well as provide learning experiences that would cultivate more skills in using effective leadership practices. Conferences, workshop, and other management meeting could be used as platforms to provide effective leadership practices.

Furthermore, the findings suggest that managers may utilize employee democratic leadership practices associated with effective models are more likely to have higher employee retention especially for supervisor segment. The findings show other factor as job stress that would be considered for further evaluation the relationship on labor turnover.

1. Project background

Angliss have been business since 1946. Before 2007, Angliss is a mainly trading food importer in Hong Kong. A traditional leadership manages staffs that maintained a lower steady turnover. On May 2007, a new leadership practice of managing director carry out reposition Angliss in Hong Kong business that expands to food service market.
